Hi all

Bought some new power steering fluid for the A class ( OEM ) ...

Anyway , it's blue and is called 'multigrade oil' part number is A001 989 24 03 10 and was £13 ish.

However , the oil in the power steering reservoir is yellow , now i know that you can't mix ATF with power steering fluid , so any ideas why this fluid that is already in there may be yellow and not blue ?

Just want to make sure before i top it up.

Thanks

I think yellow is normal. The multi grade oil is the correct oil for the power steering so cant be wrong.

Thanks Jay.

This is the genuine MB approved OEM fluid , for the A class ( i can't use it in the CLK as it takes a different spec according to the chart )

Really? I though the multigrade oil is suitable for power steering all mercs from around the 202 era and upwards.

Hmmmmm ...

I bought it from an MB dealer , and thats what their chart said to use.

You can use it in a 209 CLK for the power steering as well as the A class , but not a 208 ...

Don't know what to do now ...

I don't know what to advise you Howard? :dk: The spec I gave you is sourced from an official MB list of lubricants and from Fuchs [OEM to MERC] technical literature. Without casting aspersions did you see the list your MB parts man used? :o Its quite possible the latest ATF ?? is an acceptable SUBSTITUTE fluid which would explain the different colour. and crucially---------is all they had in stock!;) I would go for correct stuff particularly if you are topping up rather than doing a complete change but that's just me.:p

Its is a green oil call Pentosin.

ECP sell it.
