Has anyone done this? I'm assuming that as those with phone prep can have phone adapters in there it is possible to hack a power cable in. Perhaps even a standard loom?

Anyone done this?

Not sure about a standard loom, but I think you could create a fused loom of your own and run it from the 12V in the "ashtray" through the centre console to the armrest.

So how can I find out the right part number for a 12V socket to match that in the Ciggy tray?

Russian Website without hesitation... need to have your VIN to hand in order to make the site work more smoothly though

I bought a 'universal' one off ebay.

So do I just run this in parallel to the ciggy lighter or do I need to incorporate a fuse between the two? If so, what fuse?

Cool.

If I were 'T'ing' directly off the back of the 12V socket, I wouldn't bother with a second fuse as the one for the 12V socket will cover both loads.

As to fuse rating, what current does the device you want to attach draw?

It's for a Pure Highway DAB Radio or to power my phone (both mini-USB) so 500mA.

I've routed the aerial cable into the 'bottom' cupboard

If that were all, I would leave as is.

But if it bothers you a 1A inline fuse on the positive rail will do nicely.

Help!

All, I've been trying to do this install to add a cigar socket in the armrest to power a Pure Highway, but so far it hasn't worked. My electronics knowledge is clearly limited. Can anyone give me more details of how to splice into the power supply to the existing cigar lighter. There are 5 cables there - 2 bluey ones for the lamp, 1 red one and 2 yellowy ones. Which should I splice into ? Does the feed and return splice into the same cable, or are they different ones ?

Any help much appreciated !

Thanks !
IAN D.
