Problem with CD Changer in my W210

Was MC3198 manufactured by ALPINE or BECKER?
It doesn't say A or B?
Mine says it's made in China, and it reads CD-R discs.
I bought it new in 2005 for my 1999 C43 AMG.

Are these changers known to break down?
I'm glad mine is still working.

But that still makes it ~20 songs per CD.

I was being silly :D

- but as mp3 are compressed you can get quite a few more onto an Audio-CD than normal, iTunes will do it, so will Nero. Expanding them to full audio "quality" is a waste of time, the extra data has already been lost. At full compression you can get maybe 90 minutes onto a CD.

Personally, whilst mp3 is ok through earbuds or computer speakers, the quality is rubbish through a decent sound system or studio headphones. It is quite normal to burn an Audio-CD to test a new recording for play back in the car: any discrepancies with instrument balance or normalisation will show up there.

If you want to test your system, try something like Charles Mingus' Epitaph which has a huge dynamic range.
