Hi all!

For the past day or two no matter how I set the environment controls in my E class, it seems to be freezing! Has anyone else encountered this or have any idea how I might resolve it?

Thanks in advance!!

It sounds like the duo valve has gone South. Unusual to be cold though, normally they jam wide open so are too hot.

Cheers DM. Is there any where in or near St Albans I can pop in and have this rectified?

It has been known for duovalves to stick - It'd be well worth giving it a 'technical tap' before spending any money.

Hi, with my sl i have an ec button which switches off the aircon all together. Took me months to figure this out or at least read the manual. Aternatively i rev my car up a bit or accelerate a bit harder to get some warmth in it, poss dual vale problem, but this works.

Hope this helps

direct mercedes in Hemel do some servicing, there is also a specialist in Ashton Clinton just off the A41.

The duo valve is just under the brake master cylinder in the scuttle area.

And it isn't a master cylinder either but I ddin't want to confuse the O-p.:p

Thanks! So can I get access to this just by popping the hood or do I need to dismantle stuff?

First check the fuse. This can cause similar problems. I checked mine when it developed the same symptons and it wasn't blown. However, just before I was due to strip the duo valves, I checked it again and found it to be cracked!.

Simple fuse replacement solved everything.

Always worth a try, maybe Malcolm can point out the appropriate fuse number.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! Fuses are in the boot right? Does anyone know which fuse I should be checking? And to be honest I'm still not sure as to where the change over valve actually is?

Sorry guys, I don't mean to sound dim but I'm still no nearer to knowing where the valve or the fuses are? Is the valve under the bonet? If so, does anyone know how I can navigate to it?

Look under the brake fluid resevoir.
