Ps3

I'm liking this thread :D. For my birthday I have two choices of present and they are either:

1. A Sony PS3 or,

2. A 2008/2009 season ticket for Bradford City's home games next year.

Decisions decisions eh?

So, I read the informed posts with great interest.

Portzy.

Get the Bradford City S/T.
Then sell the 2nd one you get free (If im correct) for half price, to a friend.
You then put that money TOWARDS a PS3, which by then, WILL BE CHEAPER.
You get to support your local Club and then play Football on the PS3.
HAPPY DAYS :)

OK, PS3 bought. I also got Call of Duty 4 and Burnout Paradise.

So far, quite impressed. Burnout is a bit like some of the later (less good) Need for Speeds, but it gives me my speed fix.

As for Call of Duty 4 :o . Now I am a good traveller. I have sailed a fair bit, and I have natural sea legs. However, near the beginning of this game, you are on a sinking ship, and you have to get off, and jump into a waiting helicopter.

I got seasick. Really. In real life. :o

Burnout Paradise is a slow-burn one ... I wasn't that impressed to start with, but it really grows on you.

COD4 is a classic once you get past the first mission ;)

Yes, Burnout is growing on me quite fast, actually. And on the Missus.

At first look, it appears very much like NFS, and promises the same degree of restriction. But as we get into it, there's a lot more going on. I got $2.1m in a Showtime thingy

Once you get some nicer cars it really gets going :)

There's so much to do, and it's nice being able to do just the events you like and still progress.

I've seen the Demo reel for motorstorm in Toys r us on a HDTV.. and the cut scenes looked fantastic... anyone got the game? are the playing graphics the same? i'd buy a ps3 just on this alone.. looks good

COD4 is one of the best games I have come across. Whether its missions or online, you can't fault it. Another recommended game is Spiderman! A massive game that will most definitly take you a while to complete.

I bought a PS3 this weekend from GAME..... £299 for the PS3, 2 controllers and two games... Good games too.... was a special offer for it for this weekend only.... but they may still have them at the price if you ask nicely....

Yes, the media edition will have a 120gb HDD and will be backwards compatable... Plus they may be available in different colours... I will find out more for you and update the thread.:bannana:

These factors (colour notwithstanding) could well clinch the deal for me.

The backwards compatibility, namely being able to still play Buzz and Singstar at parties turns it from a just a games machine/DVD player to being very useful entertainment device. :)

Any info very much appreciated.

Motorstorm was one of the 'must have' launch games and is still pretty good. Looks fantastic on a big screen.

There's a fair bit of downloadable content for it now, too. New events, vehicles, colour schemes, etc.

Not sure about using PS2 add-on hardware with a PS3 - I would double check that's going to work.

Mind you there will be PS3 versions of both of those I would imagine (if they're not already available).

Motorstorm 2 is going to see a big improvement in depth of gameplay.

As for the 120Gb PS3:

My personal view is that a bigger version will appear when Play TV and Wake-on-LAN is supposedly launched later in the year.

Singstar for PS3 uses the PS2 hardware.

I Know what Sony has been telling mags and the like, But I have inside information. I have spoken to a mate who works for a world wide retailer, and he has said that the store has had loads of literature from Sony Europe via head office and it all points to the Media Edition (PS3 120Gb) will be released in the UK. Now, Who are Sony trying to Kidd? Us the public Or the retailers? Or possibly both? Who knows! And yet again, what would they achieve by doing this.
