Hi

I'm new to the forum and have just returned to MB ownership after a few years on the Volvo darkside.

The car is a 04 C320 cdi with Comand. I have got my phone working through Bluetooth and Comand, but have become exasperated at havign a wire snaking out messing up the dash, particuary as the phone has the battery life of a nat.

I have bought a cradle which also charges the phone, but does not do handsfree, which will remain through Bluetooth and Comand. I was hoping to have the power (which is a 12v + and negative connection through the ligher, but my local Indie who I have used in the past seems to think that might upeset the car.

I could just use the charer plug that comes with the phone, but that kind of defects the object! There must be a soloution as the after maker car kits can still be fitted. I haven't asked the dealer as I suspect that it would be we don't knopw anything about that sir!

Any suggestion would be gratefully received.

Hi and welcome to the forum, there is no problem in using the cigar lighter as long as you know that it is key 1 - 2 live only. this will not upset anything, if you want a permanent 12+, the the headlamp switch is the easiest to get to, but if you do this you should use an in line fuse

switched supply works well for me, at least if I forget to take the phone out it will switch the screen off!

Many thanks

You must have bought one of the very first ones - mine is a Dec 2005 model and I had no ideal it was in production as early as 2004... What do you think of it? Mine still gives me a grin.....:D

I love it. London and back last week, and just back from Glasgow. 42 MPG without trying and the feeling when I put the throttle down is great...

Come to think of it though - I remembered the year wrong - it is a 55. SOrry for the mis-infomation - had not even been to the pub then. hmmm!

What make of phone are you using? IS it SAP enabled? If so then the SAP bluetooth module would solve all your problems as it takes the phonebook onboard putting your phone into hibernation and then uses the telephone aerial in the car - if you're not using this and using bluetooth through comand then you are just using comand the same as one uses a bluetooth headset therefore using the phones aerial and as bluetooth drains the phone battery that is why it is running out so quickly. May (albeit expensive) be better to change your phone and UHI module to SAP bluetooth.

I use a PDA phone - it's good for email on the move as I'm a one band man so need to keep in contact. It's also wired up for the family Espace so not in a hurry to change handset. I went for the cheaper HFP Bluetooth module as I read of some problems with compatibility of the SAP model.
