Hi,

The factory fitted alloy wheels on my W210 is very badly corroded under the paint and now begining to flake off. I have been looking around for a suitable replacement and have been offered a set from a W211.

Currently I have 215/55 R16 fitted which according to the Owner's hand book, the alloy wheels would be 7.5J x 16 H2 ET41. I have been offered a set off a W211 with a size of 7.5J x 16 ET42. So will this small difference in the offset make any difference? Would I need to get the car retracked by the Dealer? Having had the retracking down recently to resolve uneven wear to the front tyres, this would be an expensive option I would like to avoid just now.

Any advice or comments?

Thanks

Ask Murray systems, who sometimes comes on here. There is also an offset check on alloywheels direct. If you can't find anything on the website you could phone them up the same as with murray systems.

No need to re-track, just would need new bolts.
The tyres from the 211 set would be 225/55R16 which would be ok, but when they wear out, make sure you replace them with 215/55R16.
Bolt Pack 4 or 4L here: http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/option/bolt_packs
Lots of other threads explaining why you need new bolts :)

Hi Chris - Can you briefly explain why the new bolts would be needed? On my W210 I changed my standard 16" W210 alloys for some 17" 209 staggered alloys and used the same bolts. Getting a bit concerned that I have done something wrong :o

Cheers,
Steve

Hey.. what you did was fine :) The issue arises when fitting wheels designed for M14 hub threaded cars to M12 hub threaded cars.
The 210 and 209 are both M12 :)

Thanks. Currently I have factory locking wheel nuts on W210 215/55R16 7.5J. Will I have to replace them also when I replace the other bolts?

I am just buying the W211 wheels without any rubbers, so was planning on fitting 215/55R16 rubbers on them anyway.

Thanks again for your very helpful reply.
