Quote for Discs and Pad replacement

I know that MB techs are human like the rest of us, it's just that if I were paying ~ £100/hour for labour I would at the very least expect to find the wheels bolted on properly? Surely there is some form of quality control that needs to be addressed here.

Will these are, after all, people as you say. Can you in all honesty say that you have never made a mistake and forgotten something important. I forget to do loads of things, some important and some trivial. What everyone forgets is that said mechanic isnt earning £100 per hour, he is realistically earning £7 - 9 per hour and will from time to time act as a human being.

ok had my say, sorry one and all.

I need the rear discs and pads done on my CLK320 W208.

Can anybody quote me the labour?

(PM is OK too)

Hi Ian,

I'm glad you noticed what I'd said in my previous post. I do, as all other humans do, make mistakes from time to time. :)

My gripe is that regardless of what they are paying the mechanic, if you are charged £100 an hour for labour, you would at the very least expect the dealership to have a slightly better quality control system in operation. Even if I was paying £10 to have a pair of front wheels balanced at any tyre shop up and down the country, you'd expect to leave with the correct amount of wheel bolts?

For the amount you pay a dealership, you would like to think that after said mechanic has finished the job, surely someone else could perhaps check/sign off the work with a quick inspection afterwards?

It leaves me in doubt - if he can forget to fit bolts holding the wheels on (which you can clearly see), what else could he have forgotton to fit? Are the caliper bolts in properly?

Perhaps I am making a mountain out of a molehill? Although I do make mistakes, in my line of work it would certainly not be acceptable to forget to fit parts.

Sorry to sound miserable :)

Just to add that, the best way forward from situations such as these is to analyse the failure, and look at ways to prevent it from happening again. :)

Whether that is a 10 second check on a job sheet to ensure that all wheel bolts are correctly fitted or whatever - better safe than sorry.
