To conclude I have the car back from Hughes. £3300 (at her insurance cost) and it all looks good.
Took them 8 working days. Shame to have lost the AMG backbox, the standard exhaust isnt as impressive to look at. But Im sure I get some stainless steel tail pipes made up and polished.
Now I can get on with some other little jobs the car needs !

Go to Longlife Exhausts and have the full system replaced.. one less to worry about..

They are good, plus you don't have to worry about replacing it, AND you may even get that "Sporty Roar" you crave..

You could have had the tips welded to a standard back box. The AMG box for mine had tailpipes that were designed to clear a rear skirt (which my car doesn't have), so the tips were too low ... with an unsightly gap. I had a bodyshop cut a section out to raise them up.
