Can anyone confirm that the steering geometry tolerances for a 500 SL (1991) are same whether the car has ADS or not?

Perhaps someone could look at the relevant WIS section for me??

Thanks in advance.

PS Is there any truth in the rumour that, even when set up perfectly, RHD SL's pull to the left and LHD SL's pull to the right?

If they're set up correctly then the cars should drive in a straight line - the pulling would be down to the camber of the road.

Data is based on weight / height setting of the car - independent of ADS although it needs to be at the right height when adjusted.

Thanks for that Stats!

I had my geometry checked today and noticed that the print-out they gave me stated "SL Class 1989-2002 : without adaptive damping". My car has ADS.

The specified ranges on the print-out appear to tally to the MB spec you kindly supplied so I'm sure all is well. My car needed a slight adjustment to front and rear track (toe) settings. The guy in the garage had heard of SL's pulling to the left but, as you said, this is probably due to road camber rather than a design feature. I had noticed slight tyre feathering on the outside edges of my front tyres which is why I had the check done.

Mine doesn't pull to the left (or right).

Nor mine, toes a straight line all day long.

In fact, one of, if not the most stable car I've driven at speed (by speed I mean 140+)

...........I guess I'll have to find a really straight, flat bit of road to see what happens. Do these exist in the UK?:)
