Mercedes SLK R171
Thought I would ask the panel on this one, a mate of mine has inherited a R129 and is thinking of selling but doesnt know where to pitch it in terms of price.

Its registered August 1992, has 105k on the clock, full history with receipts for last 6 years but all history before that cannot be located at the moment so assume lost. There is absolutely no rust, all electrics work fine, car has factory hard top and stand, a few pics

So what do the panel think its worth?

I'm not that familiar with the 6 cyl ones ... is it a 300 or a 300-24 (think the latter are more desirable)? Are the wheels genuine or replicas (they look like reps)?

it is black top 12v version 1.5-2.75k

considering w107 300 sl goes for 4-5 figures it is damn cheap buy with the same engine installed

The timing is not great, late Spring would ideal. Anyway, I'd pitch that on eBay with a reserve of 2,950 and BIN @ 3,750. Nothing to lose even if it's only a 12V, surely it's got to worth the guts of 4k just for pose valve alone. The genuine reason for sale is a nice bonus too.

What a great looking car. Old before its time.

People above are about right I reckon.
It's £3k plus or minus the mood and the weather...

start auction low at 1.5k and let the market decide it might well go over 3k, best way to sell it let people think they are getting a bargain.

Is the soft top black? Looks blue in the photo....

It looks black but in need of renovation to me ... But maybe the seller should answer - not me!

It's black and actually in good condition doesn't need renovation, the photo's are just low res and don't do it justice. The wheels are also genuine and not reps

I appreciate everyone's feed back, honesty and comments, many thanks :thumb:

I think that it looks a nice genuine car which should sell well at the right price...

It's worth a monkey at most, tell your pal I'll call round tomorrow and pick it up, might even bung him another £100 because it's your pal.

I could be wrong , but I can't see any engraving on those wheels , no engraving means reps I'm afraid.

Does look nice though , I think the fire engine red suits the SL
