R171 automatic gearbox - oil change

Hi,

I'm looking for a bit if advice having just bought a 2008 slk280.

I have read various threads some of which say that the automatic gearboxes are sealed for life and others saying that the oil should be changed at about 40,000 miles.

So ia am looking for a bit of advice as to what is the case

my car was bought from a mercedes main dealer and has covered 37,500 miles , they said that it was serviced before I bought it but would this have include the gearbox oil change as a matter of course ?

Change the oil.

Gearbox sealed for life...... I don't think so


Joking apart, get the oil changed. The lads on here will give you specific details. Probably looking around 180.00. Unless you do it yourself.
