Ok there is no module or any other pickup device either behind the grille or bumper
only parkatronic sensors and it has detected twice now mobile speed guns, which mute the strereo and light flashes then beebs giving enough warning to slow down

Clive.

Please take the instrument binnacle out of the dash ( it's easy ) and look what is actually behind the 'hole' in question.

Take photos.

Please post them up.

Thanks .

have seen it its a light not a sensor

I'm intrigued by all this if it detects speed guns then its a laser detector but useless as if you are speeding and a laser detector detects a hit from a gun then as already been said it is just confirmation you are nicked.

Go and try the TV remote test that will tell you for sure the 904Nm wavelength used on laser guns borders on the infra red spectrum and hence why TV remotes work, if it goes off with that it is a laser detector.

To test it for radar go park in front of any mobile temporary traffic lights or supermarket doors as the radar used on these is the same frequency as the old police radar guns.

On a separate note was there ever a option like pedestrian detection or collision avoidance on these cars? as I have read on US forums that some of these early detection systems react to speed measuring devices? Just a thought.

Its possible but will have to check on monday when I am back at work as am home for the w/end and the workshop is 100miles away

This is obviously a retro fit. To enable members to build up there post's.

IF that has indeed happened, then someone has doctored the car to accept that and flash a light and use the mute on the stereo.

Are you sure it's not part of a telephone wiring setup to warn the driver of an incoming call? If indeed it really does flash.

According to WIS the phototransistor that controls instrument illumination is located within the speedo as shown.

The image shown is from a prefacelift cluster.

The phototransistor on mine is exactly where the 'radar detector' is on Clives.

No , mine houses my missile shield.

Don't take it the wrong way Clive.

Numerous people have told you what it is , and you choose not to beleive them.

You have posted no photos , or any evidence to back up what you are saying ...

What do you expect to happen ? people are going to have a laugh when you just won't take off your blinkers.

I know what it is....

It's the terminal speed warning so you can get back to the future...

88 mph, Marty...

Ask a simple question and look what happens

You didn't ask a question, you kept insisting it was a radar detector after being told the answer a number of times.

ok this is no bull it is not retro fitted it was fitted when the car was ordered as I said every option,

Stick the VIN number up and we'll get the datacard, which I'm confident will NOT have RADAR detector on it.

dont need to thanks have got Wis

From that I think we can assume you know it hasn't.
