radar jammer

I've got one of them but it would be terribly inconvenient to drive everywhere with the remote in my hand and my finger on the button.

Not to mention the points you could possibly get for not having complete control of the car :-)

Never heard of a RADAR jammer. LASER jammers, yes. Supposedly they work fine but you are liable to get prosecuted if caught with one (which has happened).

Correct totally illegal.....just like breaking the speed limit

I used to run a park distance sensor that operated on the same wavelength as laser guns it used to work fantastic and was tried and tested. However laser technology has moved massively over the last few years and it doesn't work on the new generation of guns and I'm not aware of anything on the market that does.

The police have really clamped down on this and a speeding fine is much easier to swallow than perverting the course of justice. Just not worth the risk anymore.

Very interesting, imagine spunking £3.5k and then either A) Your new toy doesn't work or, B) You get done for just owning it?

I suppose that the firm that sells it are onto a winner, how would you prove, conclusively and in a way that would stand up in court, that it doesn't work?

"Guten Tag Mein Herr............dein Auto ist sehr schnell, viel schneller als mein Polizist Wagen...

Das ist nicht richtig...

If he stopped you surely he caught up with you? :D

I have some background in medical research methodology, so... how can you test a jammer device (whether home-made or commercially purchased)?

Two ways:

Option 1: You purchase every piece of speed measuring kit that police forces in the UK operate, and conduct your own testing in a disused airfield. Then you make sure that you keep purchasing every new device that goes into service over time, and keep testing. Pros: conclusive. Cons: unaffordable.

Option 2: you actively seek out speed traps, and drive at back and forth at 20% above the speed limit, to prove that you can't be caught. And you make sure you locate every type of device, and repeat the test. Pros: financially affordable. Con: ...but only if the device actually works.

So... It cant be tested. This means you buy an expensive gizmo, but because you can't test it, you don't speed, which kind of makes it pointless.

Or you have friends in your local police force who are happy to test their guns on your car ;-)

I have friends in the drug squad, so far it's been unproductive.

£3500?!

Whoever needs this jammer must have really bad eyesight because I never missed a speed camera yet and I drive at 100mph everywhere (even faster past schools) and I've got a completely clean license...

Do you consider this to be good use of police resources?

Hang on, ******** to that question, how is this acceptable use of police resource?

Well if they are down where I live you can be sure they won't be out catching crims.

Never said they were on duty ;-) nor did I say it happened just one way of testing a device ;-)

I have just designed a new bullet-prof vest.

Anyone knows any firearm officers?

I think the police stopped using radar guns in the 1990's.

You could always glue CD's to the front of your car to deflect the beams :D

psst hey kids, CD's were a bulky way of transporting and playing digital music back in the day

I think you should go for it.

Rather than having to swallow a £100 fine and three points, you might have to swallow something else whilst in goal for perverting the course of justice. It's a no brainer really….what's not to like about that choice? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?

£3500!

What kind of person spends that?

A person with a fast car and loads of money

I'm thinking someone who has zero points and wants to keep it that way

It's novel really isn't it

I want one!

Me too, of course I would never buy one even though perverting the course of justice sounds so sexy.

I think it's fantastic use of resources as the taxes I pay for them to buy speed guns is wasteful if I don't get to actually make use of them.

Watch out rozzers are here !loool

Not up with the latest speed guns, but I seem to remember the humble remote garage door opener used to cause panic in police circles, maybe 3 of those set to different radar settings might,do the job,I was bought a radar detector a few years ago think I still have it,I put it on the screen it used to drive me mad driving down a shopping street every automatic door set it off,it lasted a few weeks until removed and shoved into the garage.
