Hi,

I was glancing throught the manual/documentation that the dealer provided for my car (W203 saloon) but have so far been unable to locate the "security/pin code" for the radio (if the battery was to go flat or disconncted then I would need to reneter the stereo/radio code in order to reactivate the unit.

Please can someoe advise where abouts in the doucmentation I shoud specifically refer to for the security/pin code i.e. data card in the service book (unless the documentaion has not been accompanied with the security/pin code). If this is the case then I`ll have to refer to the dealer to obtain the info as the unit was factory fitted and should therefore be available from data records from the vehilces vin number.

Thanks

Hello , ive got a 2003 W203 and ive had my radio out and disconnected and didnt need the code. I don't think the W203 radios are coded, the dealer confirmed this and i was sceptical as well . Worked a treat . I believe its something to do with it being unique fit and the fibre connection in the back.

Firstly, are you sure youre radio is coded?

I removed a MB single CD head unit from my W202 and that was not coded, I recently took one out of an ML and that was coded!

I would have thought the code would be with the handbook, usually on a seperate credit card sized piece of paper/plastic. Otherwise ask the dealer, they should know or can easily give you the code, you may have to produce ID, birth certificate, V5 document and mothers marriage certificate before they give it to you.

ive a w203 mb and the head unit is not coded.they dont bother anymore as the unit is not the standard din e size.

Thanks for the replies there guys...

To be honest I`m not sure if it is alaram coded then... upon handover of the all the W203s that i`ve had (including this one) the saleman mentioned that the alarm code is in the manual/documentation (I never paid any attention to what he was going on about as they normally waffle on...) - there are also stickers accompanied with the documentation that read "stereo alarm coded" - I can also remmeber reading somewhere in the manual about having to possibly enter the security/pin code if the battery is diconnected.

Fuzzer - when u disconnected ur battery/stereo how long was the unit actually disconnected for ? - could that possibly have something to do with not having to enter the security/pin code ?

Guess I`ll have to double check with MB and see what they come up with... and have the ID/V5 all ready

I can remember on one our Sprinter vans that had the battery go flat - upon jump start the stero had asked for the code to be entered (4 digits long...) - again the code was not accompanied with the manual/documentation - in the end I just entered "0000" and that worked... ;)

Thanks for the feedback...

I had the power off my unit for between 30-45 min as i installed a dashmount lead onto the ISO and got that all wired up and working.

I also asked the dealer and they phoned MB in Milton keynes for me about it and the responce was still . My radio does not need a code.

Phone a dealer and ask them and take a note of the dudes name that tells you that it doesnt need a code so you can get a free code from MB if your radio does ask for one.

Cheers Fuzzer - I`ll point that out to them... and will definitely get a "name" should there be any come back...

U got any more mods lined up for when the facelift is launched... :)

My next mod will be a nokia 610 Bluetooth carkit.
http://www.nokia.com/nokia/0,,48031,00.html

It basically allows you to access your phonebook off your mobile Via bluetooth and has a remote LCD for the dashboard and a NAVI wheel.

Anyone know much about this? i know its pre release.

hi all the w203 and w209 (new clk) do not need codes, if you remove the power or stereo the unit will work fine, but if you replace the unit with another then the unit will need to be coded to your car again using star.

the message you will recive is PROD in the display

hope this helps

cheers

Thanks alot Kenny - I`m not even gona bother asking the dealer about the code now as yourself and all the others guys (mercmanuk, fuzzer and jimmy) have confirmed this...

Cheers
