HI JUST BOUGHT A C220 CDI ON A 02 PLATE
THE BOOT WONT OPEN WITH THE KEY FOB, ONLY THE BUTTON INSIDE ON THE DRIVERS DOOR.
CHECKED THE FUSES BUT ALL INTACT.

THE OTHER FAULT IS THE RAIN SENSOR DOESN'T SEEM TO BE WORKING I PUT THE WIPER TO POSITION 1 AND POURED SOME WATER ON THE TOP OF THE WIND SCREEN BUT NOTHING HAPPENED ?
SHOULD THAT ACTIVATE THE SENSOR?
CHECKED THE FUSES ?
SHOULD I TAKE IT TO A STEALERSHIP????????

ONE LAST ONE THE RADIO WORKED FINE WHEN I PICKED IT UP 2 DAYS LATER IT SOUNDS LIKE THE AERIAL HAS COME OUT OF THE BACK BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO GET THE RADIO OUT TO CHECK AS IT IS NOT THE SAME AS A STANDARD CAR RADIO.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
If it's the same as mine the first time you press the unlock button just the drivers door pin pops up. If you press it again then everything else unlocks.
I think it's an anti car jacking type of thing. Hope this is all it is.

Are you sure it has auto sensing wipers?;) Either way - if the car is stationery the wipers sense that and switch to the next lower mode which is prob off. Worth checking it out though.

If you bought it form a dealership then I'd take it to them and get them to check the stuff out and/or show you how to work it all. They shou;ld have done that when you picked the car up int he first place.

Welcome btw - and just a note - writing in capitals is seen as shouting on the 'net so you might want to change to normal case writing ;)

If your car has rain sensing wipers than if you turn the stalk switch to position 1 and they do not activate at all BUT work as per normal on the second speed then you do have rain sensing wipers. However, in order for you to activate rain sensing wipers by pouring water you need to make sure that you pour the water on to the sensor mounted on top of middle on the windscreen!!!

Is the internal boot release button actually lit red? If so then the boot has seized. Use the manual key to release/open the boot and firmly open/close the boot lid a few times and see if this helps. An adjustment can be made if mechanism is seizing and easy to do. In relation to the head unit you need special keys to release it which are available from MB parts dept. If it is a reception issue than it may be possible that your rear screen has been replaced with a non genuine MB screen as the aerial is integrate din to the glass screen. Check to see if the rear screen has the MB stamp/print on it.

Also note that the sensor detects rain drops. A smoothly poured bucket of water may not create the correct defraction of light on the screen's surface to enable the detector to kick in. You should use a light sprinkling of water from a watering can with a rose fitted (or anything else that simulates real rain).

1st sorry about the capital letters,
the rain sensor was working all the time just had to turn the switch to position one where the wipers work once then stop until it rains
sprayed some water on the screen and the wipers started
the other two faults were down to no fuses in the boot fuse box when i checked the fuse list which came with the car it did not have the fuses listed for the aerial or the one for the boot which is why the boot only worked from the button inside the car and not the fob
anyway it is all sorted and i am the proud owner of my own little bit of motoring heaven.
thanks for all your help.
