Really Really Stupid People

Exactly what I do

Also, are there any lights that take 5 minutes to change? Yes, sometimes seems like it (!!), but that long?

I always try look at all the cars in the line and if none are indicating, then they are all going straight (aren't they????). I don't think the indicator is only for the vehicles behind but also to warn oncoming vehicles. I'm approaching from the opposite direction, I have a heads up that cars intend to cross my lane! Also helps in congestion so that I know they want to turn across my lane and I can let them cross if possible.

Isn't the indicator supposed to stay on until the manoeuvre has been completed?

I have driven in Aberdeen and Glasgow and I have sat in traffic in London. I must admit it was a few years ago now but the two up North were a doddle compared to the big smoke. Maybe things have changed since then ??
I’ve experienced free flowing , and congestion in all of these places .

Not if it will cause annoyance to other road users , for example after dark .

Same with people sitting after dark with foot on foot brake and brake lights dazzling people behind : apply parking brake and , optionally , neutral or park , although an efficient parking brake will hold a car in drive .

The correct procedure is , if it was on for other road users on the approach , to cancel once at a standstill. When it is time to move off , either put it back on , or consider once again whether the signal may now be required . ( This was feature four of the ‘old’ system of car control , as published in earlier versions of Roadcraft) and is taught by all of the civilian advanced driving organisations as well as by all three emergency services , the army , and others .

It is tried and tested ; it works .

You OK Rory?

Mirror. Signal. Manoeuvre.

You have not completed the manoeuvre, so you should continue to signal until you have.

Beginning to regret posting the original annoyance....... 😂 😂 ;)

Seriously, an entertaining series of replies - and nobody has fallen out. Yet.......

Personally, I think Bill Gates is to blame :rolleyes:🤪
Or Donald Trump !
