Hi, forum!

I was thinking about maybe installing something for the kids.

I have a '06 R-Class which has COMAND NTG2.5 (which I think eliminates the possibility to control video from COMAND). Anyhow if one was to install a 3-party product with inbuilt player (standalone), are there quality leather headrests available or do they all look like crap when installed, I mean will it "mate" with the leather/alcantara (in my case I have grey/black).

Also, about a power source, is there power available in the seats which can be used (did MB prepare something since they do offer this themselves) so the finalized install will look factory?

TIA!

The set I bought for my last car simply drop over the existing front headrests using a wide Velcro fastened strap.

Wireless headphones and a remote control too.

Easy to set up and remove and cheap to buy.

OK, but, did it look good and was the car prepared for that with power?

It looked fine to me.

Power is from a 12v socket, probably located where the aircon vents are, on the rear centre console.

Well, I understand, I do have a 12V socket on the centre console but that would not look nice in my opinion, that's why I asked if it's prepared by MB in the seats so you can route a cable up through the headrest so it looks "factory" installed.

I don't know about the seats having power, but I doubt it.

It sounds like aftermarket won't be good enough for you (though I doubt if the kids would mind).

You need one of these, but a retro fit may be impossible or very expensive:

I don't think that's impossible as long as you want to take the center consol apart
