Rear View mirror, yellow light

Can someone confirm if there should be two internal soft yellow lights coming from the rear view mirror when the ignition and the lights are switched on.
Are these just to softly illuminate the cabin or for some other reason pls?

Should be on with IGN on, to take the absolute darkness out. In total darkness, say down the unlit back rosds , if you reach over to operate something on the centre console it will really illuminate your hand. Subtle but effective.

Thanks for this info so it's just a subtle lighting for the cabin then. Sounds like I have a bulb not working then as I have only one illuminated.

Did you ascertain if both lights should be on? I think I have the same situation as you. Light closest to the driver is off.

On my ML there is one that stays lit in orange - the other one lights in red (I think) if the auto-dimming is turned off.
