Well, had a letter from MB pop through my door this morning.

I thought it would be a letter saying--
"having checked our records we see that you have had many problems with your car from new and we would like to offer you £xxxxx in compensation.."

but no,

"We have determined that the possibility of failure of the vehicles electrical systems exist due to a faulty starter battery. We believe your vehicle may be affected"

In short, a recall to the dealer for work to be done.

What a joke - its been to the dealer over 10 times now for a variety of problems and its only about 8 months old!!!

You can stop taking it to the dealer if you think that may help.

Helpful comment, thanks!

Precisely what is it that you propose to attain by suggesting your car needs a safety recall notice dealt with. Do nothing and let your car burn to the ground.

You need more stamina for reality.

PS: Thanks for negative feedback.

I proposed to get the fact that I have had many problems with this car off my chest. Furthermore - other C class 2004 pre facelift owners may also be experiencing starter battery problems intermittently and may be interested in this post also.
What was it that you thought you would attain with your rather unhelpful post?

Lets try not to argue and become unhelpful shall we? How about a little better manners?

Thank you. :D

my dads is a 04 c180k is it all c classes

Not sure mate.

I would suggest that it might be worth checking with your dealer though - all it takes is for one letter to go astray in the post and you might not find out about it (unless you read this post of course  )

The service measure is labelled as P032 this is the reference number and the one which they say to quote to the dealer.

Hope this help!

I received exactly the same letter however my gripe is not the fact that they are recalling the car, as what isn’t right must be fixed, but rather that the car had just been returned to me (after being at the dealer for it’s service) on the very day that the letter arrived. Now you would think in the day and age of computers etc that the dealer would have worked all this out and changed the part that needed to be changed under the factory recall. Nope, not my dealer, which incidentally took two days to carry out service A, now the car has to go back again…

Feel much better now… :bannana:

I see you have had some less than useful comments, so I'll add what I think in a less blunt manner for contrast!

Your problems are not a good thing, not what you expected from a new premium car and if your dealer hasn't bent over backwards to resolve them then I understand you feel bitter and quite rightly so.

However, a manufacturer recall shouldn't really be complained about. A lot of manufactureres would only recall if they have to for safety reasons. If they are recalling your vehicle to save it from a potential non safety critical failure, I would be happy. Look at it as an improvement.

It's all the faults they havent recalled your vehicle for you want to worry about!

Very true, and in the real world, problems do happen. But surely the ideal situation would be a thoroughly developed car with little or no recalls! :p

Obviously this isn't so - perhaps those nicely run-in 1 year old FMBSH cars (and most of the recalls for that year completed) aren't such a bad idea after all... ;)

Just food for thought :)

;) Thanks you guys - I agree 100% with what you are saying

All the best,

Steve
:p

this is quite a nice recall as it involves you getting a 100 quids worth of new battery for free

Mines already booked since last week in to have the work carried out soon.

Zerocool - is it just the battery that is replaced?

I believe that the recall is known as PO32.

Thanks for the update.

Had my battery replaced under the recall yesterday - only thing that I can complain about is that the Steklaership scratched my immaculate/spotless engine cover in the process with a few scratches. As its just the engine cover I managed to calm myself down and just let it go.

Is there a website that gives details of all Mercedes recalls????
I had a Peugeot in a previous life.( Now that's one to forget) but there was a website which gave details of recalls, it was very useful to know what problems you were going to have before they happened
