Hi Folks,

As some of you will have seen, I've just had my spare set of AMG alloys refurbished and for anyone looking to get a refurb in the Midlands I wanted to recommend The Wheel Specialist in Wolverhampton.

It's always a bit of a gamble looking for a good supplier but after reading some less than glowing reviews of other companies on Google, TWS seemed to have some good referrals so I thought I would give them a shot.

Applied online for a quote for full Powder Coat refurbishment of 4 wheels in Shadow Chrome and received an automated quote of £350 however, spoke with their manager Bill Singh and he offered to do them for £265, turned around in 24hrs and with a 12mth warranty on the finish :thumb:

He even called to collect them from my home to save me the journey :)

As they're a spare set I'm contemplating selling them but just wanted to give a shout out to Bill and the team at The Wheel Specialist in Wolverhampton - Bill also travels to Mcr quite regularly, so if you're up that way be sure to bear him in mind :D

The Wheel Specialist in Wolverhampton can be contacted on: T: 01902 490118 or via www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk - there are also other branches of TWS elsewhere but my experience of the work from W/ton would encourage me to go back there.

The Shadow Chrome looks fantastic and changes colour in the light from mid grey to dark anthracite. Sadly you can't see the effect from the pics but here are a few anyway:

Whilst the service appears top draw, powder coating wheels in 24hrs sounds a bit quick?

Not really Brian - my wheels only had light kerb damage on a couple of rims, were supplied off the car and I only wanted a two colour powder coat (no diamond cutting involved).

The stripping & powder coating process can easily be achieved in a single day if you're organised and have a decent plant. Other companies may take 2 - 5 days but that doesn't reflect the time taken for the process.

During his working life my father operated several large scale powder coating plants, literally turning around tons of work every day for the motor industry, so I know how to recognise a decent finish.

Can't speak for other branches of TWS and can't guarantee everyone would get 24hr turn around on their wheels but I'm very happy with the finish the Wolverhampton branch achieved on mine :)
