Refilling D I Vessel

FWIW, my TDS-3 shows my tap water to be between 350ppm and 380ppm. I too use an 11-litre vessel and find that I have to change the Tulsion MB-115 after every 6 or 7 washes. I really ought to do some research and find out what to use in the way of a pre-filter...

If you want to be a bit anal you can use carbon and particulate filters prior to the DI bottle. The filters are about £10 each and last for a while. I think the best way to make it last longer is to use a 6 or 8mm hose tail so you aren't using too much water to rinse in the first place

You can tell if this is the case, as if you get a bucket of cleaned water, and swill the resin in it vigorously, if you get extra life out of it that way, you know it was clogging.
Have tried that in the past and it made no difference, so I concluded that the resin becomes exhausted rather than clogged.

I use a plain Hozelock trigger which is quite restrictive on the end of the hosepipe, and with the trigger the water I do use is always "on demand".

I think the reality is that with the hard water in north Oxfordshire, absent an investment in a RO + tank solution, I'm consigned to changing the resin after every 7 washes!

I'm wondering what the Tds would read from a water butt, I reckon it's got to be pretty low, could run it through the vessel to the car and that would surely give the resin a longer life. If the Tds reading was low enough maybe by-pass the vessel altogether.
