Removing blood & guts

A pigeon did a kamikaze dive into my front radiator on way to work this morning when I was cruising along at 60mph. Thankfully No damage to the car, but when I got to the office, 40 or so miles later, the remains - which looked like finely chopped mince meat plus feathers, was baked onto the top of the bonnet and radiator grill. I'm really struggling to get it off and some of it is inside the grill so access is difficult. I tried soap and water but can't shift it.

Any suggestions? Is it easy to remove the grille (its a W204 320 CDI) to clean it up properly?

For dead flies etc on my bonnet, I use Auto Smart G101.

Just spray it on and leave it for a minute, then just wipe off.

It's also really good for ground in dirt on wheels and so on.

Sorry for thanking you Richak, but your post made me chuckle.

I wonder whether one of the insect remover products (I use Autoglym - but granted, I've never had to remove bird guts) might do the trick.

Have you got access to a pressure washer? That would be the first thing I would try.

Spray WD40 over the whole area and allow to soak for a while, then use pressure washer.

I have reluctantly used Cillit Bang when I was really desperate and I was amazed at the result! No apparent damage to paint or lacquer! It did exactly what it says on the advert! - this was getting chain oil and crud off my Ducati rear wheel!

I would try one of the citrus based cleaners. I use Auto Finesse Citrus Power and its excellent at removing bugs and overall grime. I wouldnt suggest using a pressure washer up close on the paint, if you catch a stone chip, it can strip the laquer.

On the body work put a cloth in hot water and place it on the marks and leave it for 5 mins or so then keep repeating until the marks come off. Heat has ingrained the marks so heat will take them off

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, a few things for me to try out there. I don't want to use a pressure washer for the reasons mentioned above.

My daughter also suggested using an old toothbrush to get inside the grille without having to remove it.

I used a jetwash (carefully) to clear most of the kamikaze pigeon that hit my car and dettol antibacterial kitchen cleaner to finish off. Still got the smell of fried pigeon for a few days due to turbo heat :D

You've asked this forum for tips on how to clean an Audi.....Shame on you!!

My Dad splatted a Badger a few years ago on a country road, it unded up going underneath the car. In the morning he went outside to check the damage to the car, he found a cat licking the remains off underneath  My advice, leave it to nature.....

Just as an update on this, I managed to remove all of the residue by first of all soaking an old cloth in very hot water and placing it over the "minced-meat" and repeating several times, which got the worst of it off. What was left I managed to remove by pre-spraying with an auto glym insect removal and then using an old soft-bristled toothbrush which was great at getting inside the grille without having to remove it.

Thanks for all the help and tips guys :thumb:

Last week a pigeon decided to do a touch and go landing exercise on the road just in front of my 43... After a bang and seeing a pile of feathers flying over the car, I stop soon after intent to wash the vehicle. Remembering this thread and going round to the front to see what damages happened and cringing to see feathers and guts plastered all over, well saw nothing at all. Stroke of luck for me then :) It did break however some tabs on the Avantgarde grille thought
