Any tips in removing the centre console on a CLK Cabrio - enough to get the phone wiring into the box?

Need to remove the rear view mirror to fit the mic. Have read the how to but how many tons of force are required to overcome that spring.

You need to push to the side (driver to passenger direction) and slightly down at the same time. This will pop the spring tensioner back in far enougn to release mirror.

Its not a large force, its the direction to apply it that matters.

For example ..... pushing the mirror toward the windscreen would be twice as hard.

To replace mirror, insert diagonally so that one pin is inside the bracket plate and push up. Keep everything else facing as per normal.

My only tip here is to pull on the mirror BASE, not the mirror itself!

I am way too puny to be able push up with enough force to get that pin back in place, so after I've slotted one side in I press the other pin with a screwdriver and push up, takes seconds that way.
