HI
anyone replaced the full pipe ,front to rear?
where does it run to from ( around ) does tank have to come of?
thanks
steve.
P.s i have A.R c.d.

Why do you need to replace the whole pipe ?

fuel pipe

Local garage had it up on a ramp due to it leaking, when they checked
full fuel pipe its exstreamly rusty all over , and it leaking in a few places,
The car came from a costal area ,which exsplains the rust , garage said they didn,t really want to do the job as it means possibly removing the tank, and they could,nt see how the pipe was rooted, so could,nt give me a price for the work" pity as i like the car, now on evil bay , will put in on here over weekend,:(
thanks
steve.

madness they only leak near engine usually

and no the tank those not need to come out

get a second price on work

Extremely unlikely that the pipe would be leaking from the whole length due to rust , i don't think it is even steel pipe is it ?

The A classes leak from two rubber pipes just at the back of the engine , you can fix it yourself in about 10 minutes.

Are you noticing multiple puddles of fuel under the car ? take the undertrays off , and run the car while stationary for a bit , you will see fuel coming out if it is leaking ( doubtful ) .

The A classes did used to have problems with the petrol tank leaking around the neck and the smell getting in the car ( ours was replaced under warrnty before we owned the car , we have the paperwork )

I very much doubt if the whole pipe needs replacing , get a second opinion.

fuel pipe

Hi
fuel leaks under pressure, cab smells bad for few days
then it gets a little easy,er,
may try the rubber pipes , but as i have neither the time or
a place to work on the car ,so have out it on here and evil bay ,
unless i can find someone to check car out for me and price the job , thanks
steve.

Where do you live ?

Can you see puddles under the car after the car has been running stationary for a few minutes ?

As i said earlier , extremely unlikely that the main fuel pipe is leaking due to 'rust' .

If you can answer the questions , we may be able to advise , and then when you go to the garage , you are forearmed rather than going in blind.

Hi
in manchetser , just started car and reversed back few meters and their was a fresh trail ,none their befor i started,
thanks steve.

Sure that isn't condensation from the exhaust ?

I only ask as the A class has a plastic undertray ( which encloses the fuel pipes , so nothing would drip out of it ) ... :)

Leak

HI
petrol for sure, as i touched it and their was strong smell
of petrol , and even stood by the car you get strong intense smell of petrol, walked back later and nearly gone,
steve.

If the fuel pipe is rusty , also check the brake pipes a they will have been exposed to the same corrosion .

Steve , your advert does not mention which model the car is - A140 , A160 , A190 ???

A prospective buyer might find this useful .

Sorry , can't reply in the ad thread .

As mentioned previously, the short length of rubber fuel hose in the engine bay is the usual suspect for leaks [best to fit a new hose and new clips].

I also had to replace the hose that connects the fuel filter to the metal fuel line on mine [fuel smell in car].

I think reference is made on Loftys' site to one case where the metal fuel line that runs up the bulkhead into the engine bay had rusted through?

Chris

yes try loftys a class home page he will have pictures and details on how to fix
