Replacing Brake light switch

Hi

I would be grateful if any one can advise how to change a brake light switch on W210.

The ABS/ESP/BAS lights come on as soon as I touch the brake pedal. Also when I press the brake pedal the rear brake lights come on, but as soon as I fully depress the pedal the brake lights go out - i.e. don't light up.
Having searched previous threads, I have come to the conclusion it is a fault with the brake switch light.

I believe that I am correct in saying that its held on with a 17mm nut above the pedal

Brake switch on w210

Hi, I did mine about 3 months ago.

The switch is a push and twist affair. You need to remove the trim below the column - 3 or 4 cross head screws, unhook the trim on centre console by pulling the trim down (towards the floor). Get a torch and look at the top of the brake pedal, you'll see the switch. It really is an easy job, I'm disabled with only my left arm working. Admittedly my wife had to unclip the connectors.

If you haven't already done it, good luck. These switches seem to cause all sorts of gremlins when faulty.

No, nothing needs setting and no codes to clear

Got the switch and I managed to change it in 10 mins!! Fantastic
