Afternoon all, I am hoping that someone can give me some advice on replacing the N/S wing on my 1995 R129 after some kind person drove into it and buggered off without stopping.

I have a replacement wing and have a rough idea on what needs removing to get the new wing on but would be grateful for some more specific details.

Thanks in advance

Simon

open the door wide and you will see there are fixings there, 10mm i think, you will need to remove them (watch the door!!! IIRC you may need to take off the lower door cladding (clips and possibly one screw at the trailing door edge (from the inside if you know what I mean).
Remove the bumper side fixing (underneath the car) to get to the bottom wing bolts. Open the bonnet to get to the under-headlamp panel fixing. Reach into the inner wing and pop out the indicator to get to the other fixings.
It's all quite straightforward really.

Top hint. Get a supply of the trim clips from MB before you start the job.

My W126 S class had a strip of black mastic tape under the wing to inner wing flange. Assume this is available from MB but I guess you could gun some mastic under the wing edge to seal it. Don't use a silicone as you never get paint to stick if you want to paint the edge after cleaning off the oozee bits!

As John's post above. The bolts in the door shut can be difficult to get at, use a wobble extension bar with your 10mm socket and slide a thin piece of cardboard between the door and bar. Sometimes it can make it easier if you release the door check strap too.

Agreed Leigh, I forgot about that :(
