Reputable shop in UK fixing dead pixles on my acc HU?

thanks for the link.
buying a used HU is like buying pig in the bag for these digital head units?!

seller says, unit is tested.
how did they test it?
only by turning the ignition key ON to see how HU displays digits?
fading digits only occur most of the time when vehicle is in motion, it's the vibrations from vehicle in motion causing digits to fade.

Test it for a day o so. If no good, return it.

As for the two options posted, the UK option with lifetimr waranty is a no brainer imo. Who cares whether they replace the LCD or not?

well for those ho don't know, I live in Svveden where we eat dull meatballs all day long
I can't just buy it test it and return if it's a fawlty unit?
Shipping isn't cheap.
I put my car to sleep for winter, won't ride her until Spring 2017.
Therefore it will be hard to test a used HU for display issues?

Yes sorry didn't check your location

In that case, lifetime warranty even more important

dat's OK ol' chap, you didn't know my location.

with lajftime warranty which is the best warranty a consumer can get.
I'm covered as long as I own my car.
I don't intend to sell her.

these units will fail again coz these HU seem to have a cheap build quality.
this means I have to send it back to BBA Re-Man shop for a free of charge repair.
HU lasts about 7-10 years before pixle issues occur.
after this repair, next time my HU fails maybe petrol driven cars are banned and electric/hydrogen cars are only sold?

You are welcome to ship it to me in the UK and I can hand deliver to BBA then ship back to you. I have no idea if this gives a saving or not? I am also not sure if BBA are doing some kind of package deal that includes their shipping?

Hello Mr. Millar.
BBA Re-Man customer support told me it will cost £60 quids with UPS to ship my stuff back to Svveden.
BBA Re-Man only use courier for return shipping not Royal Mail.

I don't know if they Accept if you show up with my stuff at their door step?
Maybe I could shoot them another email asking them if someone else besides me shipping the package could handdeliver my stuff at their repair shop?

Package weight is 0.9kg = 0.908 grams
Return shipping would be helluva a lot cheaper if you help me send the package back to me, rather than using BBA return shipping with UPS for 60 quids

Are you just a few yards away from their repair shop?

Thank you kindly for your help :thumb:

I drive past it most days dropping my daughters to school. They also just repaired my BMW ABS Module. Well they tried to repair it but had to get a new one from BOSCH as it was too badly damaged.

Ask to deal with Christy and tell her you are dealing with Bruce Millar. She may help you.

yes, it's Cristy Bower that I had emailed before.

so you recommend this repair shop?
they are competent for their repair work and having a solid business reputation?
I was first thinking of shipping my unit to Das Motherland, but when BBA offers lifetime warranty I'd rather have BBA repair my HU

cheers

Hello Mr. Millar

I sent Cristy Bower an email.
Hopefully I will hear from her on Monday or Tuesday?
After that I will send you a PM so you can send me your address information where to ship my package.

When you are ready to ship my unit back to me I will reimburse you for shipping cost.

I really appreciate your help.
Thank you very much

I can only really go by what I have read and experienced with them. They get mixed reviews. But I suspect that this is due to peoples expectations being maybe to high? At the end of the day they cannot know how bad things are until they have the unit in their workshop.

They have done a couple of RR consoles for me and a RR BECM (ECU) that were all done well. They had to get me new ABS ECU for my BMW when it was found to be to badly damaged to repair. But they told me this within 4 hours of me taking in the part. The replacement part (direct from BOSCH) did not work!! But this was a replacement "rand new"part direct from BOSCH so I cannot hold BBA responsible for it not working. They got another one without argument.

On the BMW forums they have a good reputation and judging by the large amount of ABS controllers sat in their workshop, they are doing well.

I am thinking about taking in my 124 console to have the outside temp display replaced.

Let me know how you get on.

Bruce

Hello

I hope my issue will be an easy repair?
My only problem is digits on LCD do vanish from time to time making screen look a bit foggy or digits missing contour lines shaping the digits on LCD screen.
Hopefully this can be repaired not giving me future problems?

Luckily I don't have any uneven ink dots looking dead black on my screen.
I've seen some HU where screen looked very stained from black death.
Something like this.
Mercedes 190e 16v Cosworth Replacement LCD Lap Timer Screen | eBay

When I get a reply from Cristy I'll let you know asap.

Thanks for your help
