Retro-fitting parking sensors?

Dear experts,

My car (53 E320 cdi) does not have parking sensors.

My question is - do you guys know how much it would cost to fit a set of MB approved parking sensors front & rear?

Do the dealers do this (I imagine this would be very costly)?

Can anyone recommend any aftermarket units that are good and reliable?

Thanks all!

Good question I was thinking about these myself.

You may as well go for a good aftermarket kit. If you want front and back OEM style displays look at Steelmate kits. If you want OEM style flush fit / recessed sensors look at Laserline. Both are good quality kits used by main dealers for aftermarket installs.

I retro fitted these to mine, a very worthwhile and easy addition. Worse part being having to remove the rear bumper to fit the sensors but thats only a 20 minute job. I only fitted rear sensors with an LED display fitted on the left hand side of the dash above the vent. Think I paid about £35 for the kit from Sparesworld. Dont know if other models are the same but on the 208 the sensor position is actually marked on the bumper trim insert on the inside so its dead easy to fit them in OEM position.

All - thanks for the great suggestions.

I'll look into the Steelmate/Laserline option. I guess a good indy can fit them at reasonable cost?

Teh Braybrooks option is a bit too pricey..

Just checked the Steelmate website - have to order from China, is this reliable? Also, they don't quote prices unless I missed it? Any idea how much the front and rear unit with LED display might cost?

Thanks Spy those look good, do you know if they are really as reliable as the website says they are?

I have never used them so don't know. I only came across them in my own search.

There are some good first hand reviews on this thread - read all the way to the end (including one from a professional installer): Parking Reviews sought: Parking Dynamics reversing sensor - Civinfo

and also a couple of amazon reviews: Electromagnetic Parking Sensor "No Holes" - Parking: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo

I have a quick look at the reviews for the electromagnetic sensor and I'm not convinced.

I think I'll be going with the steelmates, I like the look of their sleek sensor and its relatively inexpensive price.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and comments.
