Has anyone ever done this on a facelift W210 with electric seats, or come to think of it, on any Mercedes, and is it worth the cost and time taken to convert?

anyones experience on this matter would be appreciated,

Regards,

Terry.

i retro fitted heated elctric memory passenger seat to my w209 clk, very easy to do, the hardest part was identifying which loom i needed.

I personally wouldnt bother unless you swap drivers a lot and it annoys you having to set the seat manually each time then fine tuning it for the next week or so.

Not sure if 209 is same as 210 but pretty sure 210 has some sort of ecu in the door.

Also wifes 203 has memory seat plus also part of setup is the electric steering column, not sure if this would make any difference, but again i think the 203 is simpler.

Of course the ideal solution would be a whole car that you can remove all the gear from switchs door cards looms etc.

Thanks Login user & Lynall,

The reason I ask is that I am 6 foot 4 and my wife is 5 foot 2 and it is literally a pain every time I get into the car after her, as I cannot even sit on the seat without adjusting it first, it is so close to the steering wheel!!

Seeing as the car has an electric seat, I was wondering if anyone who has electrical knowledge may know of some device that maybe able to be attached to the wiring with some kind of memory, which could be stored under the seat, as I only need the seat to have two different positions, saving the fitting of a door pad with memory seat functions etc, although if I found the parts from a breaker like you said, that wouldnt be as expensive as buying the parts from Mercedes. I suppose I need a good Leccy Techy,

Thanks,

Terry.

I have fitted electric seats to my W202. I imagine there would be alot more work involved fitting electric memory.

Hi,
As Lynall says it would involve changing/replacing a lot of things, steering column from manual to electrically adjustable, door card/door card insert, seat switch assembly, door mirror (the memory mirrors have additional internal cabling I believe).
To change drivers seat position, you would have to press the relevant memory button and then wait for the seat and steering column to move to the correct position, If my seat needs adjusting (no memory) I open the door move the switch (seat power is on when the door is open and ignition is off) and wait for the seat to move to a point where I,m happy with.
Only difference is I have to hold the switch, I would have thought the hassle and expense to fit would,nt be worth it, though I would be very interested if you decide to go ahead with it, with what was involved etc.

As W210s are pretty cheap these days, it might prove easier/cheaper to sell up and buy another car if memory seats are an important feature for you :)

I guess if you're going ahead with the swap, you'd need plenty of time/patience and a complete donor vehicle for the parts to make it work.

Thanks for all your replies. The reason I am asking is that we are going from two cars to one (Just passed the Knowledge and soon to be a london cabbie) and I am searching for a W210 E320 CDI Estate and the important extra for me is the memory seat, as Lynall says "It takes about a week to fine tune the seat once it has been moved" so I have come across a few cars with memory seat and some without and I was thinking there may be a cheap way to memorise the seat position without going to all the trouble of fitting all the neccessary parts (unless they could all be bought from a breakers yard) I am not concerned that much about the steering wheel position and mirrors, so I could by-pass them if it was at all possible and I wouldnt want to turn down the right car because it didnt have memory seat,

Once again, thanks for the advice/input,

Terry.

I think it would be an expensive upgrade as you would need a new seat with control module, loom, door switches and loom. i think you can get away with out the mem stearing column.

You can get away with not using the steering column. But you will need the door switches from a left hand drive.

If the Drivers seat would have to be changed, then I suppose i would just have to get used to fine tuning the (non memory) seat, I dont want to go to all that cost and trouble, but as I said before, thanks to everyone for their input and advice and I will try to find one with memory seat:o

How hard was it to learn & pass?

Very hard to learn and there were many times I wanted to give up, but the more I applied myself, the more I found it coming easier to me. Going up in front of the Examiners is very daunting and I, for one, was very nervous on nearly all of my 11 appearances.

Just got to go up to be tested on my inners on 26 Jan and hopefully collect my badge,

w209 seat retrofit

Hi.

I'll get golden shovel for digging but:
I'd like to retrofit AMG heated electric seats to my car, I have a cheap option to get those plus the needed parts - just wanted to know what exactly do I need. I'd appreciate any help.
I'm quite handy, in mechanical ane electric fields... not afraid to tear apart half of the vehicle.

Thanks in advance
