Roll Bar Fault 1990 500SL

Whilst I am a regular visitor to the forum and can usually find what I need to know this is my first post looking for assistance so I am hoping that someone can help with my Roll Bar Problem on my 1990 500 SL.

Last week the warning light flashed on a couple of times and at the same time the red lights in the switch used to activate the roll bar also flashed on and off. The roll bar still went up and down with the switch and I have not yet tried to roll the car to see if it works in use.

I have tried to check for fault codes but when connecting to socket 7 on the diagnostic connector the light on the reader just lights up and stays lit. All the other connections for the other areas work as they should when connected.

All ideas welcome.

Sounds like an intermittent fault on a microswitch somewhere - I assume from your description it's OK now? Not sure how much fault data is retained on a 1990 car ... when I had rollbar lights on my '97 R129 the codes and description could be seen (and cleared) through the diagnostic interface.
