Hi All,

So a few weeks back I replaced whole set of Goodyear F1 Assy3 Run Flats, for NRF Michelin PS4s, as soon as I drove off, I immediately noticed they were noisier then the GY.

The Goodyears were sound comfort, which had foam insulation, and were very quiet, and the PS4s doesn’t have the foam insulation, could this be the reason why I am finding them noisier, and my ears will just need time to get accustomed to the noise.

Apart from the noise, NRF are much better for ride quality, have noticed the difference driving over speed bumps and imperfections on road surfaces, much more cushion feel.

Has anyone else changed over to PS4s and notice increase in noise.

PS4S are the tier above. Ultra Ultra high performance tyres. What you will of gained in grip you will have lost in road noise.

Tyres are always a compromise

There is a review on tyre reviews that just came out of the Michelin Primacy 4+, Pilot Sport 5 and the Pilot Super Sport 4.

Primacy - comfort
PS5 - all rounder
PSS4 - Perfomance

Thanks did see load of videos before purchase 😄, will have to just get tuned to the noise I guess.

Missed this video though 😳 interesting review.

I didn’t have many options for my size in NRF,
No ps4 or ps5, in the premium segment there was only ps4s and contis, and GY in RF.

In my experience the Pilot Sport 4 S is a relative.y loud tyre and it has a habit of picking up and holding on to grit and stones. Superb tyres though, the best tyre I have experienced.

Yes in the short time I have had them on, the grip in dry have been excellent, but would expect that from a new tyre, surprisingly they were quieter in the wet, when it rained last week.

If I had changed from a standard non foam
Tyre, then maybe the noise may have been similar to the ps4s, but coming from the sound comfort tyres, the noise is noticeably higher, guess the ears will get used to it.

They’re noisy anyway, and so a noticeable difference coming from most tyres, but especially for you as you’ve moved from a relatively quiet tyre to a relatively noisy ultra ultra performance tyre.

Initially I thought it was an issue with the tyres, so went back to Kwik Fit, who took it for a test drive, and they said it was normal.

Anyway thanks for re confirming Bobby.

You should find that the grip doesn't drop off appreciably during the life of the tyre either. I have a set of PS4S's on now which have been on the car for upwards of 15000 miles and still inspire massive confidence in my C63 - even in the wet. I'll be putting another set on early new year (maybe longer at the rate they wear) - no hesitation.

Is yours a staggered set up, what thread is still left.

What tyres did you previously, and are they also nosier then the previous ones.

Yep - wider at the back. It had Pilot Super Sport's all round when I bought it, which to my surprise weren't great on grip. Currently the car has around 5mm on the front and 4.5mm on the back remaining. As others have said, they are a little bit noisier but if the trade-off for that is more grip then i'm good with that.

So a good few mile left yet, and being a c63

Very much so, what's even more impressive is I did a day at Milbrook late last year on them, which included many laps of their high alpine circuit and dynamic handling pad (with lots of hard cornering, lockups, spins and skids) etc.

Once they're warmed up (very important) they are epic.

So I should expect more then what you eventually get out of them, for my E350d, doing approximately 6k a year.

For sure - I expect to put at least another 3-5k on the rears before I need to change them, a little more so on the fronts.
