Don't all cheer at once, I might hear you..:p

was that thunder I heard?

Am I being a tad paranoid but they ask for the VIN? Isn't there a risk they can clone the vehicle?

I see people being worried about that all the time. But then there was this service where you can find the VIN from the licence plate. Should you start covering licence plates to avoid other people cloning your VIN?

I'm easily paranoid myself and careful giving any info about my car so I understand others being afraid of things like cloning but I believe it isn't really justified in this case.

Also they already have millions of VINs to clone (actually a lot more, basically the whole MB production up 200x something), they have your VIN there before you enter it on the site. Their database has the data card info against a given VIN.

Your VIN number is on display in open view at the bottom if the windscreen for any passerby to take note of if they were so inclined (it is on mine).
