Hey People, I've just picked my car up this morning after having some H&R springs fitted and the car feels and looks great. However after doing the discs and pads in the summer I noticed the disc backing plates were.....a little past there best shall we say, and now it sounds like they are trying to make love to the back of the discs. So can I just remove i.e. cut away the offending material and will it still be OK for the MOT?

I have found that a little bit of judicious bending usually helps in this situation.
They are very-likely slightly-bent, which is causing your problem.
Removing a bit from the edges (if you have to) should not affect your MOT.

Yeah I've not looked at them yet and I bent them back slightly when I did the brakes, but they are that bad if you touch them they just fall apart as rust doesn't bend that well.
