S204 - Passenger airbag recall

I've only just bought my S204 so unsure whether the previous owner had this done or not.
I'll drop into the dealers and ask them to check.

This will tell you. đź‘Ť

^ Visited the dealer and car is booked in for Nov 7th for both driver and passenger airbag.
A 6 week delivery for the parts from Germany.

Have you checked the recall website to see if it's already been done . I bought my e350 with 11k on the clock , mb must of got in quick on this one as it's saying it's been done.

My Airbag letter came yesterday, booked in for October 29th at 11am. Saying 3 hours. Hope to god it's quicker than that.

Thank you for that, I just presumed because MB sent the letter mine hadn’t been done.
As suspected, my car has both the diesel software update and air bag recalls still open.

It’s good to check though, thanks.

Hi , Is it legal to use a car with a faulty passenger air bag with a passenger using the seat with the faulty airbag.

Real issues with Insurance Company.

Until my car is repaired is only a three seater.

Mb have known about the issue for years . Mine was open case when I first checked nearly 3 years ago. With so many to change I guess it's taking a while.

Interestingly they also offered an engine ecu update. Mine is a Euro 5 car. I declined their kind offer which they were absolutely fine about.

Because they did it anyway ?

Fingers crossed they dont update it then..

I finally had the airbag replaced and they didn't update the diesel software as requested. I made sure it was put on the job card and when I turned up with the car the service engineer told me it was fully understood I had declined the update.

1 1/2 hours, Airbag changed and still getting 55+ mpg, so I'm assume the diesel software update didn't happen.

Not yet, lets see if they slip it in during a future service.

My current car won’t be going to any dealerships for any services. MB Independent for my old girl.
Even if it did go to a dealership, I’d be asking for a note to be put on the job card every time.

I'm considering a remap on my e350 , should put things back before mb tampered with it . Plus an extra 35 bhp and 100 nm of torque.

Had my passenger airbag done same time as August 2022 service đź‘Ť

Hi folks, I am new to this so forgive me. What's the reason for avoiding the diesel software update thing?

Many owners report problems with the Nox sensors after the update resulting in unwanted costly repairs.
Decline the update.

Just used the link in Post 21 to check the recall status of my S204 and found the airbag recall showing "Done" and nothing about the emissions recall - PHEW!!

My 2010 A207 E350 CDI recently went in to MB Salisbury for this work. They were their usual professional and pleasant selves. Interestingly they also offered an engine ecu update.

Did you get the engine ecu map done? I declined as I have a map on mine and didn’t want that messed up.

With the map on what's your average mpg ? Are you 7g or 9g Thanks

2010 E350 cab so it’s a 7g. Mild generic map disabling egr operation and swirl flap (actuator goosed). Definitely stronger pull through gears but nothing dramatic. Spends most of its time on the motorway so getting an average of 40 mpg.
