ps 2nd car worth peanuts IS the right option with three boys........

Is it possible that every S211 diesel had the DPF 55 plate onwards. I have read good regarding both non dpf and vehicles with
No - I know of a late 2007 without a DPF. No point buying one with if you can get one without imho. Still plenty to go wrong without adding a DPF to the list.

I agree 100% 👍

I am leaning more towards a 280 or 320 CDI. There are a couple I've looked at on AT one is a seven seater. The other a 5. Once lockdown is lifted I plan to go and take a look over them. There doesn't seem to be many in my local area say 30 40 mile radius. Most in my budget seem in the Midlands and further North. Shame as I don't really want to travel to far.

Is it acceptable to take a fault scanner along to view a car? What are members views on this?

As soon as you have bought one there will be three for sale within 10 miles. I would be a bit wary of someone unknown plugging an unknown device into my car; I would be OK having the codes read at a local specialist though. If I were buying I would insist on seeing a cold start and having a decent test drive. Make sure to floor the accelerator as that should flush out lurking limp mode problems - and check out the oil cooler seals (or rather check for leaks).

An icarsoft device, what's to hide 😉

I have decided to put this on hold until mid January early February. Unless something comes up that I really like.

Thanks to all for the advice and who shared on the thread. Much appreciated.

Been looking in to this again. As I'm quite near to the extended ULEZ emissions zones, would it be a bad move buying either of the cars mentioned in the thread title. I love the W/S 211 cars but thinking it would be a not so good move, in purchasing a car thats not ULEZ free. I've been looking at petrol Volvo's, can anyone give there advice or view's. I don't go into the extended zones of the south and north circular much but just a bit off putting knowing a fee will be charged, if I did so.

Tom

Any views on this ladies and gents?

Thanks
