S55K Finally Purchased!!!!

FINALLY . . . . i have a friend here, lol.

Looks very very nice that does. In my 2 years of ownership i have yet to see another one on the road, and i dont think you will have much luck either.

I dont need to tell you to enjoy it, you just will.

I know I won't see another S55K on the road as there are not that many and that's why I wanted to get this model and as well as wanting this car since it came out but I never had to £100k for a new one......oh well as they say better late than never.

Being devil's advocate and to be fair to the BMW you have, I doubt it is a 760i is it?

In which case you aren't really comparing like for like...

Even an airmatic E W211 has a much different ride from the non-airmatic.

Well worth the wait I'm sure.

When I bought the CL one of the first things I had done was change the gearbox oil as a preventative measure, well worth doing. Which was done by Olly at PCS one of our Forum traders. Just a suggestion.

I'm sure you researched the pro's and cons on the 55 Kompressor, lots of advice on here.

Enjoy.

The transmission flush, filter and gasket were changed about 6k miles ago so I don't need to touch it for another 30k miles.
I did in fact did a lot of research on here and other forums and ABC always comes up. I'm sure that it will sooner or later, but that wont phase me at all. I love this car far too much and cant wait to get back behind the wheel.

Definitely not, I have an E39 525d for work and the biggest thing is that its always going wrong every 3 months. I know its not like for like but the quality build from Mercedes is superior to BMW in my eyes.

ABC is what it is mate. Enjoy the car for what it is. You do right not using it everyday, you enjoy it more and put less stress on the ABC system.

I replaced my ABC pump a few weeks ago and it came on again the other day. Lucky just a bit low on oil due to some air in the system :D

Congrats - that looks a lovely motor! Very rare, very discreet and classy. Enjoy as I'm sure you will.

I had to have the n/s rear strut replaced a couple of months ago, also the engine and gearbox mounts + the rear trunion bushes. What a difference that made to the ride.

Hi C43AMG,

I know there are many other gremlins besides the dreaded ABC system and i'm sure I will get to open my wallet up wide open with bills. As my car has only done 41K miles it really drives like new and I will be keeping on top of maintenance with due diligence.

Cheers for the info by the way :thumb:

41K, my CL has just reached 94K. The more miles I put on the better it runs, what a great engine.

I also have a W221 500 which has done 95k and that is the same feels like it's just run in and drives like a dream. I so love V8's. :thumb:

I love V8's too, was thinking about the S65 W220 chassis, but where would I use over 600bhp??

I actually love the S55K and the size of the car is immense and the power is crazy!!!

I can't stop driving her, the last two days I have been putting mileage on and today I have left her to rest...lol

I have to say for a massive car the mpg is not what I expected, I expected it to be far more worse and this is an added bonus

^What MPG are you getting from your 55K Sunny?
I have had mine for a little more than a month and the best I have seen is 22.2MPG on a short motorway run keeping (mostly) to the speed limits.

Around town I am seeing 12 -14mpg and seem to be forever filling up:D
I did however expect a thirsty car around town, and just enjoy driving it at every opportunity. This engine must be one of the best ever produced.

Hi AMGeed,

Around town I seem to be getting what you are getting, however, on the trip home from picking her up I averaged 25mpg which I think is pretty good for the size of my car. I too have a light foot and keep to the speed limits....as you do :D

I have to agree completely with everything you've said here, and the biggest surprise for me was also the MPG, not as half bad as i thought.

The very best iv ever had out of mine, maybe because the fans and AC were off, was 27.5 MPG. And it wasnt even a leisurely run either. I nearly got out and kissed the car.

V8,

That's some good going to get that mpg and for a car that size is very impressive.

How's your motor behaving now with the ABC?
