Sat Nav Failure

Hi All, (New member)
Just had my S213 since February and Sat Nav has gone bonkers. I keep getting on-screen message stating road not mapped and the screen shows an area that is totally unrelated to where we actually are! For example when in Scotland screen showed Yorkshire. The cursor occasionally sticks to roads but more often just sails across fields etc.
Any one experienced similar?
Hopefully, it will be a quick fix tomorrow.

Could be the antenna - check on the system screen how many satellites are visible.

Otherwise - given its a new car - they will likely update the COMAND software/firmware and see if this resolves the issue.

Is it COMMAND or Garmin, I work with a guy whos Garmin went **** up as soon as he got the car. On the other hand mine has behaved impeccably in the 3 weeks 've had it.

Thanks guys, It's COMAND and was working beautifully until last week. I can't find any satellite data so I'll see what they say tomorrow. Just had sound system fixed but probably unrelated.

Dealership tells me there is nothing they can do other than take the car to a city for 5-7 hours to allow SatNav to download. I informed them I get constant 4G but it takes forever to move 1%. Disappointing to buy such an expensive motor without functioning SatNav on pick-up. I sense a psychotiuc rage approaching! Must be a quicker fix!

If you cannot see that it has acquired satellites then it could be the antenna or the unit

I think you will find that they meant take it to a dealer for most of the day whilst they reload the maps etc as the maps may have corrupted. Whatever the issue it is a Mercedes problem and not yours.

If they need the car for a period of time then they should supply you with a replacement.

In essence maps can be downloaded via a PC or installed from USB instead of downloading maps over 4g.

Thanks again, No they just assumed living in the sticks was the reason I could not download mapping. They have had the car for a day already and claim that they cannot do anything until it completes the download automatically. It has moved 1% since February in an area where we get constant 4G coverage. How do you access Satellite coverage on system in car- I tried last night but no luck!

They are denying this which is a complete nonsense.

Tell them to look at WIS document ar82.85-p-0100lwg which tells them that map update from USB is do-able.

Richard

Thanks

Thanks Richard that is just the information I need to arm myself with. What I can't understand is why the dealership is requesting the car goes in for 2-3 days while they load the mapping software. A 100mile round trip with a driver coming to collect and leave a replacement car must be more costly!
