If it's NTG2.5... then yes, in Engineering Mode.

Engineering mode press hangup + * + 6

Press next. Page will say Navi Database at on the top line.HDD contents line is the map version.

Then go to 'Menu' > 'SWDL'. It will have a HW/SW number. The 3rd and 4th set of digits are the firmware version if you want to check firmware is upt to date.

Where is says 'HDD Contents' (top right-hand picture), I believe that the first digit is the version of the map disks.

This one is showing v6, the latest is v7.

Does anyone happen to know how to access the map version info on the latest E350 with internal hard disk?

I have tried pressing hangup + * + 6 without success :(

There's an option in the regular Navigation menu. From memory it says something like "Display Map Version".

Thank you! I looked earlier but did not go to the end of the list :o

Just found out thanks to your help that Greenoaks Slough did not update my maps even though I specifically requested them to do so:mad:

Still have V4.0 and apparently I should have V7.0

Thanks again
Chris

Yup, V7.0 is the current version.

Mercedes-Benz UK made a big play about map updates being free for the first three years from MY2010(?) but my experience is that the dealers do everything thay can to avoid doing it because it ties up a service bay for two or three hours.

I can confirm that. Had my C350 in for its first service yesterday and they didn't update the nav. When I collected the car I spotted on the Electronic Service Sheet that the Navigation Map Data hadn't been ticked as done. I asked the Service Manager why and he had to think for a moment before saying that it was because there have been no updates since the car was new.

This morning I checked to see what version I had and sure enough it was still at V6.0. Looking here told me that V7.0 has been out since last September so I was straight on the phone to Mercedes Service. The senior SM who I managed to speak to this time admitted that updating the navigation software locked up a service bay for hours, but agreed that it should have been done. He apologised and it's booked in again next week for the update.

It's not the end of the world, but it is an inconvenience. Fortunately my local dealer is quite near so we're not talking about lots of extra miles on the car. BUT, this shouldn't be necessary. Sounds to me that they'll only update the software if you ask them.

I'm off on a big tour of Europe in June and I want to be sure the map data is as up-to-date as possible. I don't know if there's anything other than updated road info on V7.0, but it shouldn't be necessary to chase them to get it.

The 3 years free is for all new cars from MY2011 onwards - found this last year when I had a big row with the service manager MB Ashford while buying my 2008 S204 from them. so, they would not update my Comand NTG4 - but I found an economic way to do it myself! Thankfully my car is pre-facelift and NTG4.5 - where the crafty sods at MB have found a way to make the update VIN specific!

I wonder what they'll charge for the updates when the 3 years is up. If they're making it even harder to update the data yourself then it's bound to be bloomin pricey!

If you want to know the price of MB update discs, have a look at comandonline.co.uk where Alfie and co stock and supply Comand discs - but sit down first and expect 3 figure prices! There's also some kind of wrinkle where you need (I think) connection to MB's home computer to activate the update - think this also came in MY2011 onwards but not sure.

I know I was able to update my NTG4 2008 with a "pre-used" set of genuine MB discs, but don't think you can do that with later models.

Hi, can anybody tell me what is the latest version for a 2012 W204 with NTG 4.5? - I have 2012 V6.0
My car was serviced 3 weeks ago and I specifically asked about map and firmware updates but was told there were none!
Thanks

My W166 M Class has the same map - the car was in for a recall a couple of weeks ago (to check the floor mat didn't interfere with the accelerator pedal!) and I asked if there was a map update, but was told there wasn't. Would like to get a definitive answer given how there seems to be a lot of fobbing off going on...

Just got my March 2012 W204 back after having it updated. It's 2013 V8.0 :D

They had originally told me a couple of weeks ago that there wasn't an update from V6.0! I nagged, knowing that V7.0 became available last September, and they complied (with a free car wash included).

The latest story I got for it not having been done during the service was that they'd been having problems with the online connection to MB where they have to download the software. Sounds plausible - just wish they could have said that first time.

Now I am confused, my pre-facelift W204 with NTG 4.0 was updated (allegedly) when it was serviced last December and says 2011 V8.0. Not sure what version I should now have ?

NTG 4.0 is a different beast with different updates. NTG 4.5 is used on the facelift W204 (from 2011). The software can only be updated online; it's not on a disc.

According to Comandonline, Version released May 2012 (V10.0) is available for NTG 4.0 now. Comand APS Map DVD Europe 2012 (V10.0) for NTG4-W204 in C, GLK & SLS Class. | Mercedes Navigation Disks | Comand Online Ltd Sounds like you need to get back to your dealer for the latest version that should have been done at your last service.

As it says sat nav update on the service sheet, does that mean they have charged Mercedes for the work, wonder what else they didn't do but put on the service sheet.
Question is, do I go back now or wait till the next service and raise it then.

On a pre-facelift 204 (NTG4) you do not get updates for free, that only came in with MY2011 models (NTG4.5) and is only for 3 years. On a pre-facelift 204 like mine you can update with a "pre-used" set of discs, often available on eBay - and then sell them on once you've installed them! As a result, updating my NTG4 was very cheap.

It does on mine, says so on the sales document, 3 years free sat nav update, W204 jan 2011, pre-facelift model.
