I have a 2002 E320 CDI Estate and the SAT NAV has recently stopped picking up any satellite positioning hence I get this 00SAT in the top right when I look at the map. I have seen some references to this indicating that the cause is usually the antenna. However I am confused as to where the antenna is located. Some discussions talk about it being located under the dashboard others that is in the shark fin on the roof. This is a factory fitted COMMAND if that helps. So before I go looking and attempting to replace can anyone tell me where this antenna is, how I remove it and where I might go to buy a replacement. Thanks KK

It must be the shark fin if the car had Comand from factory. Even most retrofit guides use this same antenna. But I believe the Japanese system and also TrafficStar retrofit guide suggest to use an antenna at the instrument panel. I guess the confusion still comes more from other cars that have the instrument panel antenna from factory.

Some of these GPS antennas have been prone to water leaks, that may have killed the electronics at the antenna.

It is most commonly the antenna.

It is either located on the roof near the rear hatch or its under the dash somewhere. Factory fit COMAND used the roof antennae.

You can fix it fairly easily with a new antenna.

Thanks Alfie - assuming it's in he roof is that accessed from the inside or outside - aslo where would you recommend I get a new antennae from. Thanks KK

You'll need to pull the roof lining down carefully at the back by the tailgate.

If you want OEM then take to old one off and go to your dealer and ask for a new one. ITs probably the easiest solution without removing the comand unit;)
