Hi i have a 500 sec 1988 auto with 150k on the clock and i have a major gearbox problem.
what has happens is, it engages into reverse beautifully but when i chose any forward motion gear 2B, 2, 3 & D it engages you can feel it but the car does not move anywhere all!! it just chooses to rev freely and not doing anything.
prior to this problem what would happen is that if i am driving 40mph and want to downshift from Drive to 3 or 2 it would take ages to engage and rev freely like if it were in neutral
I just bought the car a few months back have not driven it a lot the oil from the auto box smells burnt,
I have topped it up with oil not made a difference.
Is this gearbox a 4 speed or 5 speed, (2B, 2, 3, D & R)
