SEC Widebody Conversion

Sorry guys, this week i have been very busy with Mercland... been all over the country buying cars...

(Note to self.. do not take a 5 litre W124 around the M25 in deep snow.) - good fun though

Will hopefully get some time to get there tomorrow!

p.s. got a very rare AMG steering wheel for the car... cant wait to put that on....

Cheers

Jay

You're a brave man to take the e500 out in this weather. Myself I would have taken a beater rather than risk that little beauty with other peoples driving habits.

Must be lovely buying cars in this sort of weather too:rolleyes:

You can get half litres of any MB colour mixed up by your local paint supplier. I'd do that, spray a panel and then wheel the car out into the light before you decide

Ban Him.

I think the most disappointing thing about this thread is Jay's abject failure to keep it updated daily with new pics and progress reports on the car.

I'm sure there are many like me that check this thread two or three times daily for updates and leave disappointed as the inevitable " last post Jaymanek 5th April 1742 at 3.12 p.m." hones into view.

Now I'm a busy man and to be honest haven't got time to waste on internet message boards so under the circumstances think that Jay should give the car up to someone more capable of keeping the masses frothing at the mouth and that he should be permanantly banned for being tardy and remiss in his duties.

I am happy (despite the aforementioned lack of time) to take on this responsibility on two conditions.

1. That someone else does all the work.

and

2. That someone else pays for it. I nominate Talbir for this as he appears to have a few quid and a bit of savvy in case I get stuck.

In return I promise to post a picture twice daily (though not necessarily of the car).

Hi Jay,

Would you be interested in a swap? I have one lung and a kidney available, one careful(ish) owner, 26-years-old, may smoke during startup. I can throw in an appendix, too, if that sweetens the deal :D

Seriously good work. This is going to be an abolsute monster when it's finished. Fine work, sir.

Cheers guys, you are all right, I have been very slack this week..

I am desperate to get out and see what its looking like but all this week i have been buying and preparing cars.. after all, its what pays the bills!

I hope to have some pics for you either tomorrow or monday....

EDIT: just speaking to the bodyshop... he has been having some health issues this week so not much has happened anyway.. :(

Just in time for summer and crusing :) :)
CRUISING!!!??? You think he's going to drive it?

This is looking awesome! I've only just got my SEC the other week but this is certainly givining me some inspiration to keep up the work on mine!

By the way Jay

Sorry I forgot which front bumper you ended up using.. but if you have a spare front gen 2 bumper I could do with the left hand chrome quarter if your willing to sell?

Hi,

I used the Gen 2 one.. I do have bumpers here but for a saloon.. I think the chromes are different..

Not much happening really as they have HR issues!

Most of the paintwork has been 'flatted' to expose any imperfections which are being ironed out..

With custom work like this, things were never going to be finished quickly. It looks like thye are doing a proper job, which is the main thing.

Im in India at the moment, and still find myself checking this thread daily!

Hope that was a bodyshop gal not guy who fingered the emotions on your offside front window !!! :D

talbir

hmm that might be useful as my wife thinks i now spend more time with/thinking about the widebody than her!

Does that mean she used to spend more time than you thinking about the widebody then Jay?? ;) :D
