Yes, that sounds about right. I used a 4:1 ratio torque multiplier to deal with them, it brings the torque back down into the range where you can use a reasonably sized torque wrench. As you'll know, if you're working on a truck with a fixed body, and you don't have the luxury of a truck sized ramp, you can't get much swing with a big torque wrench.

We have a torque multiplier but to be honest i have never used it.

Dont think it was as high as 4 to 1 maybe have a look next week.

Marvellous devices - mine has got me out of scrape or two.

On truck pinion nuts, for example, it reduces the job to something that a 1/2 drive breaker bar can handle.

It's obviously trumped by a really strong buzz gun when undoing fasteners, but does allow you to torque them back up again in an approximate way.

I have to say that the diff is gone south...
When I got it it was leaking from the pinion and as stated above from NC and Lynall, is that the crush washer was moved/ displaced and that was the end of it already
Anyway, this gave me the chance to replace the leaking seals on the other diff. It'll be go back in soon again.

That look like me. Down the shore? Perhaps. Oh, yep, I was on a wee rush to get something from Ocean terminal before the post get collected, but changed my mind as I couldn't be bother shopping, and rush back to the post office.

Just a hunch. You said in a pm recently that you were in that area. Mrs Druk and me were sitting in that nice wee Turkish cafe on the corner opposite the bridge when this car drove past. It looked an enthusiasts car rather than run-of-the-mill.
