Selling a private number plate

Search for 'private plate' on Google, then contact the various websites that advertise plates for sale, and offer yours - generally they act more like estate agents, i.e. they don't actually own the plates that they advertise for sale, but carry-out the transaction on your behalf for a commission (well, not quite like estate agents, because you don't actually get to contact the original seller - or in fact know who he/she are).

Sorry what I should have said is that the plate is on reg transfers but there mark up is so much it's had no interest in 3 months and for them to reduce the price I have to reduce the amount that I get.

Did they sign you up for exclusivity? If not, then you can advertise at the same time on several other sites, see which one attracts potential buyers. They will also have different mark-ups, so some may advertise your plate at a lower price.

Alternatively, there's always eBay....

Not sure about the exclusivity. I'll have to enquire with the woman who is dealing with it.

It is not going to see for too much as prefix plate that DVLA sell for £250... you would be better trying ebay... the big boys put far too much mark up on them...

To be honest even £100 for it I'd be happy with. I was never expecting mega bucks for it.

is it on retention? it will cost you £105 to do that.. obviously you add this on to the price you sell it for...

Yes it's on retention it didn't mean anything to me when I sold my previous car so I took it off and planned to sell it, however not had much luck.
