Service plan

Another thing, today that site is saying the ML is no longer eligible when I put in the reg, it was yesterday?

That is about 60p/day.

If you can afford a Mercedes than it should not break your bank account.

It just gripes me that it's so much more than usual :-/.

Most brand of main dealers do charge a lot for servicing, but can't lease vehicles be serviced anywhere as long as original parts are used?
Your not wrong but think Mercedes are in a higher bracket than usual marquee :wallbash:

Main dealer A service for my 11 year old CLK will be £160, so prices for new car servicing is a rip off.
Bargain :bannana:

Use the 7+ value service for older cars which is pretty much an A service -
Cars only just 4 years old now

Was quoted for the next service which is only a smallish service but needs fuel / oil / air and pollution filters that it will be around £700 , then the following will be a major serive at a cost of around £1400 , so guess I will be quids in ;)?

Has anyone noticed the small print with the 7+ Value Service? It says it doesn't follow MB recommended service schedule (OK, I supppose) and YOUR FREE ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE COVER AND THE 30 YEARS PERFORATION & CORRISION WARRNETY WILL NOT BE FOLLOWED. I wonder does this mean what I think.

Yes - it is basically a quick oil and filter change to cater for those owners of older cars that have given-up on servicing the car to manufacturer's specifications and suffice with annual oil change.

This is not uncommon practice among owners of older cars who run them on a budget.

Essentially what MB are doing is trying to take business away from 'generic' service centres such as KwikFit.

And there's also the potential additional income from repairs and other scheduled service items - keeping in mind that many dealers have reduced hourly rates for 7+ years old cars.

But it's not a 'proper' A or B service (much less additional checks) and it does not count as a 'service' from the manufacturer's point of view.

I am not sure how they stamp the book though.

I plan to use this for my W211, I would assume the digital service history would get updated to say it's had a value service.

This might seem very cheapskate but I have just saved £240 on the 4 year C Class service plan bringing down from £30 to £25 per month.

All I did was apply for a Halifax Reward Current Account which pays £5 per month and takes 5 minutes to fill out the online form. The conditions are 2 monthly direct debits so this is one of them and I will move one other.

Then pay in £750 per month into this account via a standing order from your main bank account and set up a standing order for £725 minus the other sum for the second direct debit to be paid back and the job is done.

It was the easiest £240 I have ever earned and now makes the MB service plan seem more palatable.

Very shifty offering IMO - I wonder how many customers realise.

I'd feel more comfortable spending my money with an indy that was doing the service properly.

Why is it shifty?

All there in black and white -

7+ Value Service
If your Mercedes-Benz is more than 7 years old, you can now choose a Value Service to keep your older car in perfect running order. No surprises, no hidden costs, just straightforward car service prices to keep your Mercedes–Benz running smoothly.

The Mercedes–Benz Value Service includes:

Full inspection, including:
Visual brake inspection
Check tyres
Check wipers and washers
Check seat belts
Check suspension components
Inspect Poly–V belt
Brake fluid level
Power steering fluid level
Check lights
Re–set service indicator
Oil and filter change
Mercedes–Benz GenuineParts*
Free service measures updates
Free car wash
* At the discretion of the Retailer

Please note that the Value Service does not follow the Manufacturers Recommended Service Schedule and your 30 years perforation and corrosion warranty and your free Roadside Assistance (dependent on age of vehicle cover will vary) will be lost.

The Mercedes-Benz Value Service excludes collection and delivery and loan car charges if required.

Very shifty offering IMO - I wonder how many customers realise...

I think that for many owners having some form of dealer stamp in the book is good enough when it comes to ensuring resale value.

Most second hand buyers (or other-marque dealers, if trading-in) won't realise there's a difference anyway.

...I'd feel more comfortable spending my money with an indy that was doing the service properly.

Incidentally, this is my view also regarding 'proper' A/B services.... I moved to trusted specialists after an abysmal experience at one of MB prime dealerships.

I still maintain my car to a full and proper service regime, but carried-out by people I know and trust.

Why is it shifty?

Because ....

It's going to cause cars to be sold with Full MBSH when in fact they don't.

Very very very shifty.

MB should be totally ashamed of themselves for diluting their product.

(And I'll bet there will be more than a few dealers selling cars with an apparent 'FMBSH' that isn't really a FMBSH - either just as unaware as many of the potential customers of the small print or just not caring to check the difference).

Note that even the use of genuine parts are at the discretion of the dealer (yup shifty little asterisk).

When I had my W211 the indy was adamant about using MB parts - no shifty little asterisk to undermine his integrity.

Nice one for the heads up on that, that's exactly the sort of thing I look out for :thumb: Cheapskates have the sharpest skates ;)
