Service sequence for W211 E320 CDi (and more)

Any chance of that in English? Mines an 04 and would love to know, seeing as it's black with sparkly bits, I could see the stone chips filled with polish and bugging the hell out of me. :)

Paul.

Sorry Paul,
The colour code is at the base of the 'B' pillar and if it has a letter 'C' in front of the actual paint code number then it has the new nano paint technology.

Are you asking what the 'B' pillar is, or are you merely pointing out how bad my grammar is?

If it is the latter, then please get in line behind 'Shude'. He is my resident spell checker and English Guru ;)

Take care,
John

I would never be so rude as to suggest your spelling or grammar, bit like the pot calling the kettle black.

I honestly did not know what a "B" pillar was when it was home.

Regards Paul.

Hi Paul,
Please do not think I was criticising you, far from it, I just could not understand your question..

The term 'B' pillar refers to the central pillar that the has the front door latch and the rear door hinges fitted. I suppose before the doors are actually fitted it forms the centre line of the letter 'B' when it is laying on its side??
On the inside of the car it holds the seat belt installation.

Anyway, you will see a plate with a list of numbers. One set of numbers will look something like........ C515. Where 515 is the colour coding and the letter 'C' lets you know that the car has the new paint technology.

Good luck,
John

Thanks John, I understand now.

And I did not take offence to any of your post. That's the problem with the written word, can be taken wrong so many ways, especially as my command (or should that be COMAND) :) of the English language is tentative (according to my wife).

Off to have a look at the car, should I be able to see those Nanobots with a magnifying glass? :)

Regards Paul.

My twopence worth

Hi all - way back at the beginning of this thread service codes mentioned.

My W211 has just had a B service and the next one due is G ?

Regarding SBC Hold, my car was delivered April 2003 and the SBC Hold/Stop information was in a separate manual, 10 pages, so we can estimate how long it was used on the E-Class.

I agree it is a shame about the "puddle" lights in the mirrors - Mercedes are notoriously secrative about minor revisions, I'm afraid most changes will be down to cost.

I've also noticed the prices have been creeping up for the last couple of years - trying to regain the losses due to "lower" new car prices?

Anyway enjoy your Es!

Mike

Hi Mike,
Certainly agree about the 'secretive' mode. My vehicle was a Jan 04 build, delivered in February. SBC Hold\Stop is dealt with in the main manual which has 536 pages. Then there is the COMAND manual which has 212 pages.

I mention the number of pages because the newer vehicles have less pages which I believe is mainly due to the withdrawal of options\specifications?

Bye for now,
John

Another change on the New E211s is the Option from the steering wheel controls to have the Wing Mirrors fold in when the ignition is switched off and the car locked. ;)

Hi Brian,
Are you saying that the very first 211's did not have this option? We always have it activated.

This model is certainly always changing!!!

Hi Brian,
How strange, even our old 210 had folding mirrors. I just checked on the price list to make sure it was not an option.

On the W210 Elegance\Avantgarde year 2000 folding mirrors are standard?

If you had not made your observation then I would have naturally assumed that folding mirrors just carried on into the newer revised model?

Do you think this specification was introduced when they bought in COMAND for the 211?

You misread my thread "again" John. :D

I have folding mirrors on my W211 and had them on my W210 - BUT - On the new W211 when you lock the car you can have the "Option" of the mirrors folding shut or not automatically, according to a setting on the Steering wheel option section. I don't have this option on mine. OK?????? :D

Hi Brian
:D  You have got to admire my consistancy. I am obviously looking for gremlins that aren't there.

I now understand completely what you are saying. It might take a while but it looks like the penny has finally sunk.

You haven't paid for the option???? Noooo!!!

Just Joking :D :D

Sorry about being a bit 'slow'
