2017 E Class Estate
Hi all, I'm hoping to get some recommendations for garages to service my 2017 e class estate. I live in the North East UK and have used Sytners Teesside in the past with varying degrees of satisfaction from very good to absolutely shocking. The shocking bit wasn't related to servicing so whilst I wouldn't object to taking the car there again I do wonder how the hourly rate compares to others. I don't mind travelling for the right service at the right price too. E.G I used to ride my Ducati around 150 miles to a place I could trust rather than other more local places.

Sytner want £170 per hour which I think is very much taking my pants down and giving me a right good going over.

So can anyone suggest somewhere else?

Cheers

You want a local to you MB specialist .
Narrow down where you are and someone should be able to recommend one buddy .

You said you don't mind the distance - main dealer £139

You also need to see if the hourly rate includes vat.
How's life minus an amg slim?

I’ve used MB of Darlington with many satisfying visits and also MercSpec in Middlesbrough.

In my experiences both specialist have given a great service.

A slight 'drift' but what rates are independents charging?

I know it's about quality of work, knowledge and how long someone takes to do a job, but £75 plus Vat (so £90) an hour at my nearest.

The local garage in the village is £65 plus VAT now

Just got my 2010 e- class cgi estate back from Finch motors in Brentford. Had an issue with rattling noises from the engine. First mechanic I took it to told me it was likely the timing chain and could cost between £3-4,000......after picking myself up off the floor I decided to get a second opinion from Marcin at Finch motors. After a quick test drive he told me its probably the engine mounts and not the timing chain. Total cost of the bill ended up being £2,254 inc VAT (£1,300 Labour & £578 Parts).
He also fixed a slight oil leak, a B service, a software update, transmission service, all four engine mounts & two of the gearbox.
I have to say I was impressed with the work done (he would send me little videos of the issues and what needed doing), and the car is running perfectly but not sure about the pricing as its the first time I've owned a Mercedes.
Wondered what other members thoughts on this? I think they're labour charges are £100 per hour (we are in London after all)

Thanks all for the suggestions. I've used MB Darlington in the past and they were good. I had a slight hiccup with them when the EML and brake assist lights came on. They changed the accelerator pedal and a nox sensor and still lights came on. Took it to Sytners and they diagnosed the accelerator pedal wiring loom. Said the indies don't have the star diagnostic tools.
Obviously this shouldn't be an issue for a standard service so may end up going there again.

Having said that, one of our cars will be back using Sytner Teesside for the foreseeable future. I’ll be taking the other one to Merc-Spec just for convenience.
