Shell V Power 5p/L Discount This Friday Only

I'd just used my seond 5p/l Tesco voucher to refill the 968 with their Moventum super unleaded - the voucher ran out tomorrow, and just a couple of days ago I used an earlier one to refill the C270. I said something a bit stronger than Glee when I found this link on the PCGB forum!

Does anyone believe that using this petrol really makes any difference? Tried it a couple of times and not convinced.

In a c63 yes a massive difference.

Not in a C180 or any other 'normal' car. Only those which are mapped for high-octane fuel (performance variants) or those cars imported from countries where fuel has a higher octane rating (e.g. Japan).

My car objects

Aaaaagh pressed the worng button! My car objects to being called 'normal'. It's a Mercedes!

Even though my 968 has a clever ECU that's supposed to sense fuel octane somehow and adjust accordingly, I'm convinced she runs better on 99 than on regular 95 unleaded. My last 4 tankfuls have been Tesco Moventum and Shell V Power, haven't noticed any difference between the 2 but - especially when I put the boot down and get into playtime RPM - I'm sure the car performs better. I do very limited mileage in the 968, so I'll continue to use 99 in that - Tesco when I have a discount voucher, V Power if not.

However, I find no difference in the C270's performance between Tesco and Shell regular diesel. Both are normally the same price around here, so again I use Tesco when I have a voucher, Shell if I don't. I haven't tried "upmarket" diesel in the C270.

It was difficult to tell the difference on the 230k (with 200k miles!) but on my GF's focus the car seems to make more noise after a couple of tankfuls. I reckon this is down to the cleaning properties of vpower rather than anything else.

Can't believe I missed this. Not been online for days, and brimmed both cars with Optimax on Thursday night. Would have saved me more than £6!!

Well -- move over this way gentlemen!!
I'm gettin my diesel at £1,09 per litre by driving a few miles down to road into Co. Donegal
saving me @ 12p per litre
Much better savings if ur in a position to claim the Irish Vat back @21%

It was utter carnage at Shell Salford Quays last night. Cars were queuing out of the forecourt, people were just driving off before filling. I stuck it out for a few mins then as I got closer I realised why - they had run out of everything EXCEPT V-Power! Brimmed the focus then left them to it...
