Right, I know I've not had my S124 E200 for very long but I'm really liking it... However, I know of an S124 E280 that will be coming available soon, and I'm tempted by the step up in power and (hopefully) refinement from the 6-cylinder engine, so I'm thinking about selling the E200 to buy the E280.
By switching from an M111.940 to an M104.94x, am I going to regret t down the line with reliability issues? The guy I'd be buying off is a petrolhead who knows his stuff and has had other W124s, so may well have replaced the biodegradable wiring already... Is there anything else I might have to worry about?
Alternatively, as I'm looking to get a bit more pulling power as my Merc's meant for touring and towing duties, would there be any chance of fitting just the Kompressor (and any essential ancillaries) from a later M111.957 engine, or would that require a complete heart transplant? If I had to look at a full engine swap, I'd probably stick to a car change, or go the whole hog and begin scouring adverts for salvage cars with undamaged M119s
