Hello

Have sky + and would like to view the same channel in another room, don't need to watch a different channel.

Tried scart wireless senders, worked ok..ish but interferance? (thick walls, phones, microwave?, interweb?)

So went and googled and found the Sky + has a second RF out....Activated this and used an aireal cable plugged into back of sky box and to second TV.

Let the TV scan and it did find the sky channel, but signal looks week?

Am I using the wrong cable?

I know there is the muli room option but thats £10 a month and I only want to view it now and again on the second set?...so thought the second RF would be a winner...

Thanks in Advance

How long is the cable run out of interest?

And what sort of cable are you using?

Will

Hello the cable at present is approx 3 meters (as I'm only testing it to see it works before I drill and fit a proper one where the second TV is going)

Its a standard aireal cable white just looked its says

Coaxal cable 75 oh ??

thanks

You need the Sky link, you plug the lead to the other room into RF 2 and activate it turning on the 9v power once the link is plugged in. This output will be in mono and a FR output. you plug the SKY link into the earial socket and the ext lead into the link. you then need to tune this second TV to CH 68 that is the default but can be changed and you can then change channels in that room

I can post one at £10 in p&p

That remote in the link will not work on SKY+

The link will work and is the same as mine but I do not have any remotes left in stock

There is no such thing as CH 7
you must go to the tuning menu on the TV and manual search for channel 68 its the last on the right if you have a tuning bar,,some TV lets you put in CH68 direct and enter

On the SKY box make sure the the" power DC" is not turned on or you will destroy your SKY box,, this can only be turned on with the link.

Sorry about CH69 it was a typing error,, I am seeing things and posting here too much, with over 70 post plus 30 Emails and much more every day for the last week

Hi Malcolm,

My Sky box is on at the moment with just the aireal coming out of RF2 anf going to the other TV.... is this going to damage the box?

It may well have been CH68 it found as it was right over to the right but on the set its called it CH7?

I don't understand how the link improves the signal though as at the moment the picture is watchable but not as clear as the 'proper' set.

This link says its for sky + have to say if this works the extra remote would be handy.

Sorry to interject but you dont need the sky eye for it to work. YOu need the sky magic eye link to control the sky box. If you want to do this you need to turn on the 9v output
I would like to suggest that your interference is another channel broadcasting on or near to channel 68. ( The box is broadcasting on 68, you may have channel 5 on the same channel )

So I would change the number ( again via sky box ) and retune your television.

Once you do it, can I also suggest you buy this http://www.play.com/Electronics/Ele...-Sky-And-Sky-Plus-Remote-Control/Product.html

Its currently in the sale and a better price I dont think you'll find ( Youcan find the eye cheaper but but not with remote too) - free delivery too.

Not as long as the 9v power is not turned on

Strange, never seen that

The Ebay one is for SKY +
thanks again

If the coax lead is damaged/ poor the picture could be bad,, do make sure that there are no stray strands of wire shorting out

Have you been into the SKY box service menu to check that it is on

I had this same problem when I had sky+ installed.

The output from the sky+ box had to be changed, it is in the setup menu somewhere, I cannot remember where it is exactly, but Im sure someone will be along soon who can tell you.

Once I had changed this setting the picture on the second TV was perfect.

I did ask the question on here last year, so maybe search for sky+ may help.

Hugh you do not turn on the DC power, you will damage the box,,had one last week with just that problem,, it is for the sky link only for the power for the sender.

All CH 5 transmitter use 36 and 37 only

To get to the RF2 settings

On SKY box
Services
4 system set up
press 010 then enter, the will tell you the status of the output, and DC on/off do not turn it on or you will inject 9 volt into the aerial socket of the TV. Only use with the link

you can change the RF setting from this menu,, try Ch 21 for instance

Yup thats what I said Malcolm..."YOu need the sky magic eye link to control the sky box. If you want to do this you need to turn on the 9v output "...

If its not channel 5 could it be that he has a video recorder attached broadcasting on 68??

So sorry hugh I am sleepy,, yes many things these days come pre tuned on 68.

I really am sorry and I will remove the post :):)

Yes RF is on just checked

Channel set to 68 in Sky menu

Checked the coax and seems ok (its a sealed plug end unlike the ones you make up?)

Set the TV to tune in again, see what happends :)

------- update

Still store the sky channal as 7 ? even though it does find it right at the end... I cannot manual tune...fine tune yes but that doesn't help

Picture still not right...

May have to try another coax lead?

:(

Please dont remove on my account, sometimes general banter is a good way of finding the route of problem.
Ive just put my 4th magic eye in. I have the 9v rf out going up into the attic, there i have a specific magic eye splitter box. Three feeds from here go into bedrooms, the fourth drops down the side of a boxed wastpipe that just so happens to travel through the kitchen, the cable exits vie the kitchen and into an lcd on kitchen wall.

Change the 68 on the sky box and try it.

oooh much more added above my post...

So should I try and change channel 68 that the sky is defaulted to something else.

Read elsewhere between 21 and 68?

thanks
